MARIANNE BELDING Miss Marianne Belding, head of The ArT DeparTmenT, goT her Bachelor of Science in EducaTion aT Ohio STaTe and began her painT and brush career in I939. l-ler special hobby, appro- priaTely enough, is painTing and she also likes To sew. She makes her own cloThes, some of which she designs, Reading is her TavoriTe pasTime. She likes music in general alThough she says she has no special musical TalenT. Her Tavor- iTe meal conTains sTeak and mushrooms. pineapple sherbeT and loTs oT coTTee. Whenever Miss Belding Thinks of special class characTerisTics she Thinks oT her eighTh graders always asking Tor an exTra period besides Their own and The high school sTudenTs Trying To geT OuT of having Their assigned work. Our new blond and handsome member oT The TaculTy goT his Bachelor QT Science in EducaTion degree aT Bowling Green Uni- versiTy and is a member oT Phi Be TraTerniTy. l-le has aTTended STouT lnsTiTuTe in Wisconsin. AppropriaTely enough, his hobbies are in The aThleTic Tield where we know him as ThaT assisTanT TooTball and baskeTball coach who looks so young ThaT iT's hard To disTinguish him Trom The members oT The Team. Mr. l-lagemeyer likes lofs oT everyThing To eaT and he is such a congenial Tellow ThaT he doesn'T even have any peT peeves. The scope of The lndusTrial ArTs work is very wide and inclusive. Teaching boTh Junior and Senior High classes, Mr. l-lagemeyer musT have knowledge in a varieTy oT Tields aT his command. The subiecTs TaughT in The lndusTrial ArTs classes range Trom draw- ing and wood work Through plasTics, bench, arT and sheeT meTals, To Torging and machine shop work. NexT year, in The inTeresT oT defense, some new subiecTs are To be added To The lndusTrial ArTs course. These include air- craTT sheeT meTal. Toundry, welding. auTomoTives, and ceramics. The machine shop course is To be expanded also. Mr. Phillips has his Bachelor oT School Music degree Trom CapiTal UniversiTy in Columbus, Ohio. He also sTudied Two summers aT Columbia UniversiTy in New York. He has TaughT school Tor Tive years. Such is The case oT Miss RuTI1 DurliaT, who has Tilled Mr. Pardee's place in Teaching social science. She wenT To high school aT CenTral in Toledo and received her A.B. degree aT Mary Manse College, also in Toledo. Before coming To Maumee High, she TaughT TourTh grade aT Riverside Tor a year and a haIT. She is very acTive in sporTs, which is her hobby. BaskeTball leads The IisT, wiTh ice skaTing coming in second and swimming sliding in Third. IIT swimming can slidel. I doubT if you could ever guess whaT she likes besT To eaT.
