l 5 Qs 5 E4 W u i 'E S ,l it . -2 , It takes more than brilliant students and abeautifulcarnpus to form an outstanding school. In every successful school, you will find the backbone to be the faculty. This faculty must be dedicated, intelligent, patient and self-sacrificing with diverse in- terests. When a faculty has these attributes, as do ours, the school is outstanding. 2 3 1 ii .4

Rev. Father Michael Hanlon Rev. Father Donald Montrose The Crown Staff proudly dedicates this book to the three principals who have, dur- ing their administration, set goals and standards which form the true lnside Story of Mater Dei. Father Eyraud was our first principal. His particular job was to supervise the con- struction of Mater Dei, Hire the first faculty, welcome the first students, prepare for dedication ceremonies, form traditions, and initiate the parents club. it was Father Eyraud's task to see that a Catholic high school could succeed in Orange County. Father Hanlon arrived for Mater Dei's third year. The student body doubled itself which meant more buildings had to be constructed. Father Hanlon met these demands by adding three new wings to the school. His tasks also included arranging the first graduation and instituting the faculty, parent, and student handbooks. Also during his administration Mater Dei gained prominence in Orange County both scholastically and athletically. Our present principal Father Montrose, is no newcomer to Mater Dei. He was assistant principal to both our past principals. Father Montrose introduced the machine age to Mater Dei. Our business department is fully equipped and our language depart- ment has a language lab, consisting of tape recorders and other devices for the use of the students and faculty. Our office also has new equipment which enables the staff to keep accurate and complete records. ll The fine results of the work of these three administrators are evident in our buildings, equipment, school spirit and accomplishments.
