A Message from the President Professionally accredited since its beginning by the United States Coast Guard licensing requirements, the Massachusetts Mari- time Academy is now in the process of extending its 33-month course to a 43-month, or four-year course of instruction. This will make regional academic accreditation feasible and stengthen rather than weaken our permanent objective of excellence in maritime training. Thus, this catalog — the first full description of the Acad- emy and its objectives — comes at a most appropriate time.
