AMES S. PIERCE lVlr. Pierce retired in June, 1970, as an associate profesrsprqof hi tory. He was associated with North Adams State College for ckars. lVlr. Pierce acted in many capacities during that time. He served as chair- man of the history department and was also advisor to the International Relations Club. It is the sincere desire of the Class of 1970 that you, lVlr. Pierce, will find happiness and contentment in your retirement. EDMOND K. LUDDY lVlr. Luddy retired in June, 1970, as an associate professor of history after an association with the college of thirty-three years. During those years he acted in many capacities. He served as chairman of the faculty and of the department of social studies. He organized and also managed the Col- lege bookstore for many years. He was chairman of the Academic Stand- ing Committee and of the humanities division. He was founder and faculty advisor for the Newman Club for many years and also organized the Frank Fuller Murdock Honor Society, serving as advisor since its inception many years ago. The first physical education program for men was inaugurated by lVlr. Luddy in 1938. lVlr. Luddy has contributed to the life of the city of North Adams. He was a member of the City Planning Board for ten years, serving four years as chairman. He is also a member of the American Historical Association. The Class of 1970 thanks you, Nlr. Luddy, for your outstanding con- tributions to North Adams State College and for your energetic devotion to the teaching profession. lVlay you enjoy many years of retirement.
