m 1981 CMhowMh Maryvilk College Mamille. ZeHHessce Streams Of jCife JCike tiny patters of rain We are brought into being alone - small and delicate yet so significant as a whole. As a spring rain is beneficial to this green earth. ' We are refreshing in our innocent youth. IVe allow others to build the bridges over our troubled waters as we flow on unceasing. So many people So many acperiences become a part of our lives and ou r patters become splashes in the world and the lives of others |, as we add knowledge upon knowledge gaining momentum - spilling, tumbling escultant with life we go to universities and colleges independent and proud trying to remain between the banks of reason but sometimes overflowing -so zealous are we in our freedom. We spend those years as if in pools sometimes peaceful, sometimes turbulent ever growing and maturing; then we spill forth in various directions near and far ' me of us like tiny streams ' ding to lush, green meadows -others like powerful, rolling rivers to the vast ocean where the new and the old mingle and become one. Where will we go? What will we become? A frightening question that tugs at all of our minds, f ut he flow of life like the flow of the rivers our tiny patters have made will carry us to our destiny. -Kathi Wilson .r.. abU J) f Contend J Streams Of jCife Administration and Jaculty Classes Zhe Class of 1981 Z: Organizations Sports Ads and ' Directories r Ji, MWM M- - .s ' :- ' -:: 4 -. « --- ' ' ' 5 i ' 1 Where Chilhowee ' s lofty mountains, Pierce the Southern Blue, Proudly stands our Alma Mater, Noble, grand, and true. The 1980 MC football team started the season off with an encouraging win over Centre College, but the inexperience of Zaneski ' s young team proved to be their undoing as the Scots stacked up a final record of 5 wins and 5 losses. With only 18 lettermen and 10 starters returning, Zaneski relied heavily upon many of his freshman recruits. Although the score did not always reflect it, the Scot football players put in many hours of hard work and practice. They did a fine job in this rebuilding year. Mer path still uncertain as she descends from the womb A sudden-struck springtime nourishes the child With a youth full vigor she falls Stronger and stronger each step of the way behind the dark woods a sparkle dances through An April mist. Zumbling white waters past the seasons of change Crashing and splashing over rocks that have seen A circle of time passage eternal and grand Blue-green spectators watch her advance So swift in her life-giving dash Zhrough the forest. J ow summer brings glory to this thing once so small And the trees draw their fullness from her vein All creatures cool their thirst in her bending waters Still making escape with a now mighty flow Zhe river rolls on — leaves float on her back Zo the Autumn. Zhose who have seen her as she winds to the sea Zhis river of change onetime born of the rains Know that she beckons whoever will heed Zo drink from her goodness so fresh yet so old 7or by lifting the spirit one grows ever more On the river of life. -Michael Weis ?
