this volume, which is to go down to College posterity as a memo- rial of the days of 1907- ' 08. It is, indeed, with pride that we finally present to you, dear reader, the consummation of our efforts and plans. We trust that you will find in its pages some- thing worthy of your attention, and feel breathing through every line that devotion to our old College which every worthy record of a year ' s happenings must possess, if it is to be accorded a wel- come in the hearts of college men and women, from whatever fondly cherished institution they come. jjWe have tried to present, in their true relation, the different phases and varied interests of college life and to revivify the spirit of loyalty and devotion to Old Maryville. flThat our work may be viewed in the spirit of love and charity, with no desire to criticize the efforts of those who are, as yet, but amateurs, is the wish of the Editors as this volume may find its way into your hand. 14
