These courses enable students to compose, transpose, orchestrate, take dictation, and to recognize movements and rhythms. For the 'visual' artist the expres- sive need is found through material substances. Los Arboles Mueren de Pie, ct three act play written by Alejandro Casona, is a mixture of fantasy and reality. The translation of both this play and the novel, Los Inqui- dades de Shanti, is the principal assignment for the fourth and third year Spanish classes. Besides the four years of Spanish, Maryvale offers two years of Latin and French. To supplement the me- chanical and conversational in- struction given, students in all foreign language classes are taught much of the country's culture and history while they are also given the opportunity to make up their own skits and even sing.
