Los Arboles Mueren de Pie, ct three act play written by Alejandro Casona, is a mixture of fantasy and reality. The translation of both this play and the novel, Los Inqui- dades de Shanti, is the principal assignment for the fourth and third year Spanish classes. Besides the four years of Spanish, Maryvale offers two years of Latin and French. To supplement the me- chanical and conversational in- struction given, students in all foreign language classes are taught much of the country's culture and history while they are also given the opportunity to make up their own skits and even sing. Herb Tucker points to a troublesome word on the board as he and Steve Kennedy translate cr Latin paragraph. 20 Mrs. Sagarino records during a drill given to im prove Spanish recitation. p.' 49 GEORGE EMMONS IDA SAGARINO PETE NAVAHRETE Dep't Head ' f s s.
