Some of the duties of the library students are checking books in and out, putting up newspapers and new magazines, and filing the back issues. Not only do they do all of these jobs, but many more, such as putting returned books on shelves, counting and recording daily circulation of the books and taking care of overdue lists. Each student has a particular section of the library which is her responsibility. In each section the books ar e to be straightened and the shelves cleaned. Each new book must have a pocket, and cards for the paperbacks have to be typed. The student must be able to file cards in the card catalog alphabetically. The girls are graded on how well they do the above and on the worksheets and tests assigned. Cindy No r dstrom completes library passes. Library Service Fulfills

Student Needs READ A BOOK By Lori Wilson Grade 4 When I’m going on a trip, With nothing else to do, I simply go and read a book, I read the whole night through. Some books are good And some are bad; Some are happy And some are sad. So if you Ye sick or off the “hook,” Just remember — Read a book! Mrs. Gorham has been the librarian at MHS for sixteen years. She is the homeroom teacher for one of the sophomore sections. During the course of the day, Mrs. Gorham has many duties to perform. She is in charge of making sure all her library assistants are doing their jobs. She also helps students and teachers locate books and other reference material. She prepares the reading material for classes which use the library during the day. Along with all of these jobs, Mrs. Gorham is also a Junior Class advisor and is an advisor for the Honor Society. Laura Beam works with card catalog. Karen Carty is a second semester library student this year. 19
