OUR SCAN ANAVIAN GIRL ARCTIC OCEAA! at ' fmt 14fvo -MAIN Our two exchange students have come to us from the Scandanavian countries of Sweden and Finland. Lena Stadell is the daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs, Anders Stadell. She has one brother, Per, who is fourteen years old. Their home is in Avesta, Sweden.. Lena's American parents are Mr. and Mrs. Melton J. Lenk. Sandy Lenk, senior '65, is her American sister. Lena's future plans in- clude two more years of high school in Sweden and attend- ance at a university in Stock- holm. She will study to be- come a social-curator. The comment Lena gave is, My year in Marysville has been a wonderful experi- ence, and all of you have really given me a good im- pression of the American people. I wish more teen- agers could be given the op- portunity to be exchange stu- dents because I believe it is a very good way to create understanding between countries. ' ' Maija Linna, from Tam- pere, Finland, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kyosti Linna. She has three sisters and two brothers, Harri is Maija's twin brother. Maija is now living with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Darby. Her American sister is Linda Darby, class of '65, When she returns to Fin- land, Maija will complete two more years of high school. Then she will attend either the university in Helsinki or a college in Tampere. She would like to become a gym teacher. Maija's comment to the students is, I can never tell how glad I am that Icould come here to Marysville. I have had a wonderful year, and I have learned very much about American people. I hope, as does Lena, that more teen- agers can go to other coun- tries, because it is the best way to understand differences between people.
