Board of Education The members of the Board of Education are as follows, from left to right: Mr. Peter H. Harmon, Trustee; Mr. Benjamin E. Neal, Treasurer; Mr. Richard W. Kern, Secretary; Mr. Clarence E. Heeke, President; Mr. William A. Johnson, Trustee; Mr. Norris A. Hanks, Superintendent of schools; Mr. Louis W. Schmorrow, Trustee; and, Mr. Robert Keefe, Trustee. This has been an extremely busy year for the members of the Board of Education. The Board this year was increased from five to seven members. Early in the fall of 1960, the Board completed the proceedings to annex the Smith Creek School District to the Marysville District. A major portion of their work has dealt with the construction and completion of the new Junior High building. They inspected the new Junior High building and accepted it for occupancy by pupils as of January 30, 1961. With the increasing enrollments and expanding of the school district, the duties and responsibilities of the Board are continuously growing. The members of the Board have accepted this extra responsibility willingly and are most happy to serve the school and their community. The Viking staff salutes these men for their progressive approach and outlook to the betterment of education for the children of the area.

He has been instrumental in every phase of the planning, constructing, and equipping of this beautiful new building. Congratulations to you, Mr. Hanks for a difficult job well done.
