This year we have had one of the best, if not the best, basketball teams ever to grace the halls of Marysville High. They set an unprecedented season record of fifteen wins and one loss. In the District Tournaments, MHS did an excellent job (St. Stephen 61-45, St. Clair 68-54, and Yale 84-51). At the regionals in our first game, we lost a very close one to the Fenton Tigers. We of Marysville High would like to congratulate the Viking Basketball Team and their topnotch coach, Dick Parfitt, on a job well done. Frank Polk battles for a rebound against Cros-Lex. Wayne Jackson shoots an easy lay-up against Cros- Lex. Bob Keefe dribbles past an Algonac player. Senior Lettermen Standing with Coach Collard we have our graduating lettermen: Chrystal Lee, Mike French, Wayne Jackson, Bill Bunn, and Ray Warren. Our outstanding runner this year was Ray Warren. He broke Vaughn Krafft ' s record for the two-mile course, which was 10 : 37.1, with a run of 10:33.5. The team finished the season with a standing of three wins, and three losses for dual meets. They finished 5th at the Hastings Invitational, at which nine- teen other schools participated; they also finished 5th at the Thurston Invita- tional, and 6th at the Regionals. Dave Dobson finished 9th in the Regionals. Returning next year will be David Dobson, an outstanding junior runner; also Lloyd Spencer, sophomore; George Caudill, junior; and Harry Roehl, junior. This will be a strong backbone for next year ' s team. 85 Varsity Baseball First row: Coach Pake, George Jackson, Richie Sopha, Ted Balinski, Ken Mallwitz, Larry Emery, Larry Badley, Dave Westbrook.
