Plans are underway for a new junior high building to be completed by next fall. Shown viewing the plans are the members of the board of education, left to right: B. E. Neal, Richard W. Kern, Clarence E. Heeke, Norris A. Hanks, Superintendent; Wm. A. John- son, and Louis Schmorrow. This has been a busy year for members of the Board of Education. Projects included the completion of plans for the new Junior High School, expansion of the Junior High School -Senior High School site and parti- cipation in the Port Huron-Marysville Area Study and the Wurzel Committee reviewing new and proposed school legislation. Work was continued on the development of the play- ground area at the Marysville Gardens Elementary School and the revision and extension of the Code of Policies and Procedures for the school District. In addition, the Board had devoted time to meetings with committees of teachers who are studying our curricula to make possible extensions or improvements of pre- sent offerings. Duties and responsibilities of board members are growing with the expanding school system. However, Board members have accepted this extra load willing- ly, considering it a privilege to serve the school and community. Toilers on the Job In the picture on the left is Lillian Duncan, bookkeeper for the Board of Education office, and right is Mar ie Knuth, secretary and book- keeper for the Board of Education. These two are, in effect, the motor works of the office. They keep up correspondences, file papers, keep the books and in general keep the Superin- tendent’s office running smoothly. Many praises are due! 6
