He has also belonged to the School Council. In the field of sports he has played basketball , track and in- tramural volleyball. His hobbies include a I I sports, chess, and pool. Gerry wants to be a lawyer some day. Gerald Allen The stronger always succeeds. As an active member of the Hi-Y club, Jerry worked on the program committee in his junior and senior -years. He played football in the ninth grade and worked on the yearbook staff in the eleventh. His hob- bies are boating, fishing, and swimming. Although he now works as a bak- er ' s assistant, he later hopes to attend Annapol- is. Sharron Apley How near to good is what is fair. As a junior, Sharron be- came a member of the Honor Society, the G.A. A., and participated in intramural sports. In her senior year she served as editor of the Viking, secretary of the Pep Club, and secretary-treas- urer of the band, as a three-year member. Oil painting and skating are Sharron ' s hobbies. She intends to become a com- mercial artist. Alan Bagnall We cannot all do all things. Alan ' s favorite sport is golf which he has play- ed for three years. He played basketball in the ninth grade and has been a band member for three years. The Hi- Y has been his club-ac- tivity. Working at a gro- cery and stamp collect- ing are Alan ' s after- school activities. David Bedell All may do, what has by man been done. As a tenth grader, Dave took part in track, play- ed intramural volleyball and badminton. He was a member of the Ampli- fier staff in his junior year, and has worked in the cafeteria for three years. Some of his out- side interests are wood- craft, fishing, eating and sleeping, and after grad- uation he plans to be- come a carpenter. Judy Beaudry Her very frowns are fairer far, Than smiles of other maidens are. Judy worked in the lib- rary and was a member of the Library Club. She also was a member of the Pep Club for one year, and worked on the ticket committee for the Junior Play. Cooking and music are her hobbies and after graduation she plans to become a secre- tary. Richard Beaudry He can never be good that is not obstinate. Dick participated in all of the intramural sports in the ninth and tenth grades. Fishing, hunting, and woodcraft are his hobbies. He has worked as a mechanic on co-op and after he finishes school he plans to enter the navy. Ruth Blatt I have a heart with room for every joy. Ruth has been a mem- ber of the School Coun- cil for three years and was treasurer in her senior year. She served as class secretary in both the ninth and twelfth grades. Band, chorus, Pep Club, G.A. A., and varsity cheer - leading number among her school activities. After graduation Ruth plans to become a nurse. 56 William Bowman Life without sport is not life. Bill is vice-president of the Varsity Club and a three-year member. He played football for three years, making all-county as a senior. Intramural sports, four years of baseball, two of basket- ball, and one of track are also prominent on his record. Bill ' s future plans are indefinite. Annis Busha A girl of cheerful yes- terdays and confident to- morrows. Annis participated in G. A. A. and intramural bas- ketball and volleyball in her freshman year. She was a member of the Jugs, sang in the chorus for three years, and was a majorette in her jun- ior and senior years. An- nis works part-time and ice skating, swimming and baseball are her hobbies. After gradua- tion, she plans to be- come a secretary. David Boehm He who owns the soil owns up to the sky. David ' s interests center around farming. He has farmed 300 acres with full management for eight years. His hobbies are hunting and repair- ing farm implements. After school he wants to ' continue this work. Norman Brown He conquers who con- quers himself. The United States Air Corps will see a lot of Norm, for he plans to make flying his career. He has played football for two years, and is one of our better baseball players. When he isn ' t participating in sport Norm likes to do a little hunting. 57 Eleanor Bowman Quietness is best. Eleanor is a sports en- thusiast. Along with at- tending events, she keeps busy with sports herself. In the summer- time her leisure hours are spent in swimming, and in the winter, Elea- nor has to be content with ice skating. After she finishes high school she plans to join the U. S. Army. Judy Briggs A gentle smile, a gen- erous thought - she ' ll al- ways have friends. In addition to three years as a member of the Jugs, Judy served as secretary in her senior year. In the tenth grade she was vice-president of the class, worked on the yearbook, and sang in the chorus. In the eleven- th grade, she was in the queen ' s court. Judy has also been a cheerleader for three years. After graduation, she would like to work with I.B.M. machines. James Bruner The world does not al- ways recognize its great- est men. Jim ' s hobby and his am- bition are just about one and the same. He plans to be a draftsman and his hobby is drawing. Jim also spends a lot of time with another hobby of his, studying and driv- ing two or four-wheeled methods of transporta- tion. Donald Button Modesty is attended by profit. As a lover of sports, Don has participated in intra- mural basketball, volley- ball and badminton. He has also played on the basketball and golf teams. Don was a mem- ber of the Hi-Y for two years and a member of the Science Club in his senior year. Golf, hunt- ing, and sports are his hobbies. After gradua- tion he hopes to become a successful business- man. Albert Campbell He has difficulty for every solution. Swimming, photography and stamp collecting are three of Al ' s hobbies. Af- ter school, he works for a newspaper. Intramural volleyball and badmin- ton played a part in Al ' s sports life, along with football, track and golf. When he starts out on his own, he wants to be a barber. Arlene Campbell Some think the world was made for fun and frolic-and so do I. Arlene was in chorus for one year, treasurer of the Pep Club, a member of the Senior Literary Club, and on the School Council for two years. She was also elected to go to Girls ' State. Her hobbies are dancing and skating. After graduation she plans on being a nurse. Wayne Carlisle No sinner and no saint, perhaps, but still the very best of chaps. Wayne was class treasur- er as a sophomore, and vice-president as junior and senior. He worked on the yearbook and the Amplifier for two years and was also a member of the Varsity Club. Wayne played on the basketball, football, baseball, track and golf teams, and participated in intramural volleyball and basketball. After graduation he plans to be a coach. Ray Carrick A boy who is not only good, but good for something. Intramural sports and football kept Ray busy in his freshman year. He joined the Amplifier staff as a junior and has been art editor this year. Ray has worked for a news- paper, and as a gas station attendant and fruit salesman. Oil paint- ing, stamps, model air- planes, and swimming are his hobbies, and he would like to become a commercial artist or a draftsman. Eleanor Casado She won ' t take No for an answer. Eleanor has been a mem- ber of G.A.A. and the Jugs for two years. She was a cheerleader for three years, a member of the chorus for four years, and participated in in- tramural baseball, vol- leyball, and basketball. Dancing is Eleanor ' s hob- by and after graduation she intends to be a beau- tician. David Collins Happy I am-from wor- ries I ' m free-why can ' t others be contented like me? Dave has been a Hi-Y Club member for two years. He has helped on various class projects, and went out for track in the tenth grade. When he isn ' t working for his dad in Detroit, Dave ' s favorite hobbies are farming, sports and read- ing. Dave wants to go to college and become an engineer in plastics. James Davies He ' ll make the goal. Jim has belonged to Hi- Y Literary Club, Varsity Club, School Council, and served as president of the Honor Society. Music- ally inclined he worked in the school band, dance band, chorus, and Four Chimes Quartette. Sports minded, as well, he play- ed football, basketball, baseball and track. Jim ' s hobby is music, and he plans civil engineering or business management as a career. James Davis A man that blushes is not quite a brute. Participation in baseball, football, and intramural volleyball for three years has kept Jim busy. He was on the track team in his sophomore year. Jim was a member of the Varsity Club for two years and on the Ampli- fier and yearbook staffs in his senior year. His hobbies are hunting and fishing, and the Marine Corps is his future. 58 Sandra Dennis Pep is the spice of life. Sandra was a member of the Jugs for two years and a member of G.A.A. for one year. She has been in the chorus all through high school. In her freshman and sopho- more years Sandra play- ed intramural basketball and volleyball. Dancing, roller skating and swim- ming are her hobbies. After graduation she plans to be a secretary. Suzanne Dobson Quiet, unruffled, always the same, like some sweet picture in a picture frame ' A member of the Pep Club during her junior and senior years, Sue was also in the Camera Club during her senior year. She has been in the chorus for three years. Sue ' s hobbies are roller skating, ice skating, ten- nis and swimming. After graduation she plans to be a secretary. Arlene Dukette It ' s nice to be nice when you ' re naturally nice. Arlene would like to be- come a beautician after she graduates. In the meantime she has been playing basketball, two years of it, and was in the band for three years. Eva Dawn Force Cares? She never had them. Eva Dawn has been ac- tive in class affairs, and served as prompter in the Junior Play. She played in the high school band for three years, was a member of the Pep Club for two years, and belonged to the ugs for three years, be- ng treasurer twice. Eva Dawn likes swimming and skating. I Jean Dimick Wherever she finds her- self, she ' ll make a good addition. Jean has taken part in intramural basketball, volleyball, and baseball. She was a member of G. A. A. for two years and in chorus for three years. Dancing is her favorite hobby and following graduation she would like to be a secretary. Eleanor Docherty She makes many friends wherever she goes. In her freshman year Eleanor was in the Lib- rary Club and played in. tramural volleyball. She served two years on the Amplifier staff and also worked on the yearbook. As a senior she was the recorder for the Science Club, and a member of the Senior Literary Club. Her ambition is to be- come a nurse. Florence Fanion The mildest manners and the gentlest of heart. Baby-sitting is Florence ' s after-school activity. She hopes to be a telephone operator in the near fu- ture. In the meantime crocheting, dancing and sports help fill her free hours. Florence has been in the chorus for three years and has served on various class committees. Robert Force Thought is deeper than speech. Bob has sung with the chorus for two years. His main interests are hunt- ing, fishing and sports. He spends much of his spare time listening to music. After graduation he plans to begin his career as a machinist or a draftsman. 59 Gwendolyn Fraser ' Of manner gentle, and of affection mild. Gwen wants to travel, get married, and be a stenographer, in that order. Right now her hobbies include sewing, swimming, dancing, cooking and skating. Be- sides that she works at a dairy. Gwen has be- longed to the Dramatics Club and has worked in the library. Delma French You know I always love a little flirtation. A member of the Jugs, chorus, and the G.A.A., Delma has also worked at a dairy for the last two years. She played intramural volleyball and basketball, and worked on class committees. Rol- ler skating and dancing fill her free time and after she graduates she plans on marriage and office work. Terry French I never dare to be as funny as I can be. Terry is known to most of us as two-year class treasurer, member of the School Council, and pres- ident of the Pep Club He participated in the Hi-Y, Junior Play, Science Club, Senior Literary Club, and attended Boys State. Terry also worked on the yearbook, played intramural sports and track. His hobby is chem. istry and his ambition, chemical engineering. James Frendt A dependable man is more precious than gold. Here is a potential fly- boy . First college, and then the air force , says Jim. He played intra- mural basketball, volley- ball, badminton, and baseball, and sang in the chorus for three years. Basketball and football for Marysville brought him a two-year member- ship in the Varsity Club. In his spare time Jim likes to go hunting, fly- ing, fishing and boat- ing. James Garety The farmers are the founders of civilization and prosperity. Jim wants to be a T. V. repairman, a farmer or a conservation officer. He has appropriate hob- bies to match these am- bitions: radio work, photography, hunting, woodworking, camping, and farming. Irene Frizzle Her smile is as big as her heart. Work has consumed a big part of Irene ' s sen- ior year; howe ver, she has managed to help out in various activities, including the Junior Play and class committees. Irene also worked in the library for two years. In her spare time she likes to sew and read, and plans to be a career-girl and housewife. Barbara Gamble A redhead, and a decided one Our class redhead has played intramural bad- minton and volleyball, both for two years. Barb has played in the band for two years, and been a member of G.A.A. Away from school, she likes tennis, ice skating and roller skating. She will join the ranks of the practical nurses after graduation. Clayton Gerstenberger A good disposition is worth more than gold. Clayt played in intra- mural sports: volleyball, basketball, and badmin- ton. He is in chorus, as a senior, and played football in his freshman year. Eating, tinkering with cars, and hunting are Clayt ' s after-school hobbies. After gradua- tion he plans to continue at the drive-in where he is now working. 60 William Green Life is what you make it. Bill has been a member of the football team, and has played intramural volleyball and basket- ball. He works after school at a market, and when he has the time, he likes to hunt. After he graduates, Bill plans to become an architect. Georgina Gonzalez Every girl for herself. Georgina, who attended the Edison Institute in Havana, Cuba, has been quite active here in Marysville. She takes part in most of the class activities, and belongs to the Pep Club and Science Club. Her favorite hob- bies are skating, swim- ming, and tennis. She plans to take a business admin istration course at Junior College. Frederick Hamlin A truly modest fellow. While he was in the ninth grade at Kimball, Fred was a mernber of the 4-H Club. In his spare time, Fred likes to en- gage in his favorite hob- by, music. He plans some day to become an electronics engineer. Sally Hendrick Laugh and the world laughs with you, frown and you wrinkle your face. For the last two years, Sally has been in the Pep Club, chorus, and active in class activities. Her hobbies include col- lecting unique cups, sau- cers, and napkins, and going ice skating. She wants to be a private secretary. Robert Gray All the great men are now dying. I don ' t feel very good myself. Working for a newspa- per leaves Bob with lit- tle time on his hands. He played intramural bas- ketball, and school bas- ketball in the tenth grade. When he ' s not working or in school, he likes to hunt and skate Bob plans to move around a bit after gra- duation. Paul Harrington Seems quiet but you never can tell. This yearbook is one of the things to which Paul has contributed time and effort. Other class ac- tivities, Pep Club and Science Club have also received his attentions. In sports, Paul has par- ticipated in football and track. His hobbies are science and photography, and he hopes to become an electrical engineer. V Sandra Hall Choose the best life, habit -will make it pleasant. Sandy has been in the Pep Club, and a mem- ber of the School Coun- cil. Baseball, intramural volleyball, and bowling have made up the sports ' side of Sandy ' s life. She has served in the band and as assist- ant yearbook editor. Sandy works in her dad ' s store, plays piano, and collects stamps. She plans to be an airline stewardess. Charles Henry An equal mixture of good humor and good sense. Chuck is a member of the Hi-Y Club, has ser- ved on various class committees, and has been active in football, baseball, and track. In his after-school hours Chuck likes to go trap- ping, and build model airplanes. After gradua- tion he plans to become an automotive engineer. Lawrence Hinkley To be strong is to be happy. Ninth grade basketball and intramural basket- ball and volleyball were Larry ' s school activities. His hobby is working on cars, and he hopes to become a truck driver. Ermajean Hoag Quietness is a virtue. Sewing, music, and skat- ing are three of the things that Ermajean likes to do best. Besides these things she has been in the Pep Club and chorus, and has partici- pated in various activi- ties. After graduation she would like to be- come a secretary. Robert Hooper He is never quiet but when he is sleeping. Bob topped his class in junior magazine sales. He played in band for four years, and belong- ed to Hi-Y, Scholastic Club, Varsity Club, Pep Club, and Senior Literary Club. In addition to intra- mural sports he played football, basketball and golf. He likes basketball, fishing, and traveling. Bob plans to be an en- gineer. Nancy Houle If music be the food of love, play on. Nancy belonged to the Senior Literary Club, Pep Club, 4-H, and the Dra - matics Club. She has played intramural sports, worked on class commit, tees, was in the Junior Play, and accompanied the chorus for two years, She also plays the piano, swims, and skates. Nan- cy plans to become a medical technologist. Donna Hughes She is like quiet laugh- ter, pleasing, yet unassuming. Donna has been a mem- ber of the Pep Club, the Jugs, and the. G. A. A. She has taken part in various activities and has been a member of the chorus for four years. In her spare time Donna likes to col- lect records. She plans to work after she fin- ishes school. Joseph Irvine Napoleon was small and considered great; I am small, but just you wait. A member of the Varsity Club for two years, Joe also belonged to the 4-H Club. He played football and then became mana- ger of the team. He has also been manager of the baseball and basket- ball teams. He likes to hunt, swim, fish, and skate, and is headed for the army after gradua- tion. David Jackson Live and learn. Dave has been in the Dramatics Club, 4-H Club, Hi-Y, basketball, base- ball, football and track He worked on yearbook, and has been in journal- ism for two years, this year as sports editor. Dave likes to build mod- el boats and planes in his spare time and he plans to become either a newspaper reporter or an architect. Thomas Hyatt I know what I like, and that ' s enough. Tom earned his member- ship in the Varsity Club by playing basketball, track and football. In football he was named all-county center and re- ceived all-state honor, able mention. Class com- mittees and chorus have taken up much of his time in school. After hours he was ambulance driver for a funeral home. 62 Irene Jakubiak As merry as the day is long ' Irene is one of our four, year cheerleaders and has always been inter- ested in sports. She has played in intramural games and was a mem- ber of the G.A.A. and Pep Club. The Junior Play, chorus, and cafe- teria work have also taken their share of her time. Ice skating, danc- ing and singing are her hobbies, and she wants to teach physical educa- tion. Phyllis Jones ' ' If a smile wins, all the world is yours. After membership in the Pep Club, the Senior Literary Club and the Science Club, Phyllis wants to enter the field of medicine in the fu- ture. She served as as- sistant editor of the year, book, and has been a band member for four years. Phyllis has play- ed intramural volleyball and basketball, and mu- sic is her hobby. Joan Jowett The smile on her face is the reflection of the feeling in her heart. Our homecoming queen of the football season, Joan would some day like to be an elementary teacher. She has belong- ed to the Future Nurses ' Club, the Library Club, and the Pep -Club. She has been active in class activities, has played basketball and baseball, and has been a cheer- leader. Richard Kemp There must be an easier way Dick has set up two goals. He wants to be either an electrical en- gineer or a jet pilot. His hobbies are working on automobiles and flying airplanes. He works af- ter school in a grocery store. Dick has played intramural basketball. Rosealee Johnson A small package full of surprises. Rosealee has been active on class committees, a member of the Dance Club, and the Dramatics Club. Although working at a bakery, Rosealee has played basketball and baseball and has been a cheerleader. She collects state pennants and she aspires to be- come an I.B.M. operator. Edward Kidder Handsome is as hand- some does. Ed has been our class president for the last two years. He belonged to the Varsity Club, Stu- dent Council, 4-H Club, Junior Play and the chorus. In sports, he has participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. Ed plans to go to college and then enter law enforcement work. Carol Kilbourne Steady and staunch, quiet and true, the best of friends to me and you. Carol has kept busy with class activities, helping on dinners, various com- mittees, and other social functions. In the sum- mertime she likes to swim, and in the winter- time, she takes to the ice. Carol would like to be a married secretary after graduation. Lois King Be silent and safe — silence never betrays you. Lois has been in the Pep Club since its beginning. She has been in the chorus for three years and in the library for one. She played intra- mural basketball for one year and volleyball for two. Lois wants to work in an office after she finishes school. Lynn Kleckner Things forbidden have a secret charm. Despite the fact that Lynn has been working for a newspaper, he has had time for the Hi-Y Club, intramural basketball, and his favorite hobby, automobiles. After • he graduates, Lynn wants to be either an electrical engineer or a pilot for Uncle Sam, Margo Kleeves Politeness costs nothing and gains everything. Margo has done a num- ber of things. She has been in Dramatics Club. Square Dance Club, and she was also a cheer- leader in the ninth grade. When she wasn ' t busy cheerleading she was playing intramural bas- ketball and baseball. Margo likes to go ice skating. After she gets her diploma she wants to work and travel. Bessie Knepper May she never change except in name. Bessie has more hobbies than she can keep up with. She makes knick- knacks, paints them, paints textiles, dances, ice skates, and reads if she has time. Bessie worked in the library in her sophomore year and she has been on many class committees since then. She wants to be a housewife, and to help make people happy. Arlene Kreciesz Smile and the world smiles with you. Arlene, better known as Penny , is the owner of the dimpled face we have seen in the library for three years. She takes part in lots of class com- mittees, and played in- tramural sports. Singing and playing the piano are her hobbies. She plans to work in the medical field after she graduates. Mary Louise Lavis The way to have a friend is to be one. The girl with the ready smile has been in the Pep Club and the 4-H Club for two years, and the Art Club for one year. Journalism helped consume her time in the eleventh grade. Mary ' s hobbies can all be rolled into one: art work. She would like, someday, to design women ' s clothes. 64 Virginia Kotzke Silence is more eloquent than words. Intramural volleyball is one of the sports Virgin- ia likes best. Swimming and skating are two more favorite sports. Lots of travel and secretarial work are two of Virgin- ia ' s greatest ambitions. She belongs to the Pep Club and chorus, and has taken part in class activities. Maxine LaVere Blonde hair and smiling face, scatters sunshine every place. Maxine has been in the Pep Club for two years, and in the chorus for three. Her hobbies in- clude all sports. In school she has played baseball and volleyball. When she graduates, Maxine plans to enter the wo- men ' s branch of the arm- ed forces. Keith Lenk If pleasure interferes with work, quit work. Keith has been a mem- ber of the band for four years, played intramuraf basketball, badminton, and volleyball, and has also played some foot- ball and basketball. He is vice-president of the Pep Club, president of the Literary Club, a mem. ber of the Honor Society, and a member of the year-book and Amplifier staffs. He wants to at- tend M.S.U. Harry Liverance If man has patience, what need has he of armor? ' ' Harry is a dyed-in-the- wool farmer, and says he always will be. For the past four years he has worked after school, at . night, and weekends at the job of farming. Harry also does some hunting and fishing. After he graduates he plans to continue farming. Robert Limberg Men of few words are the best. If any of you morticians- to-be arg’ looking around for a partner, Bob is your man. For three years he served as presi- dent of the Hi-Y and as a member of the band. Bob played football and intramural volleyball in the ninth grade. Hunting, fishing, and working with cars occupy his spare time. Sylvia Luciani The angel is thinking, but the devil ' s thinking harder. Combining a part-time job and school work has kept Sylvia busy. She has also been a member of the chorus for three years and a member of the Jugs. Her hobbies are ice-skating and dan- cing. Secretarial work and housewife ' s duties will dominate Sylvia ' s fu- ture. Bonnie MacPherson Full of fire, mischief, too, doing the little things she shouldn ' t do. Bonnie has served her class on the Junior Play, J-Hop, and Junior-Sen- ior Banquet. She was ac- tive in Pep Club, Jugs, and G.A.A. One of our leading cheerleaders, Bonnie also sang with the chorus. She likes to draw and plans to be- come a fashion designer. 65 David Lindsay No one knows what he can do till he tries. Dave has been busy dur- ing high school. In addit- ion to working after school he has managed to help with posters and dance themes. He attend- ed Interlochen on a scholarship and has play- ed in the band for six years. Tennis, drawing, music, swimming and radio work are his hob- bies. Dave plans to be an architect or a contractor. James Livingston A good sort and a good sport. Jim is a sports-minded fellow. He not only play- ed football, baseball and track, but he managed the basketball team as well. He played noon- hour intramural volley- ball, and was a member of the Varsity Club. Jim plans to join the United States Air Force. Jackie MacDonald A smile is currency in any country. Jackie, a future beautic- ian, also likes sports. She has played intramural volleyball and basket- ball, and her favorite hobbies are dancing and roller skating. She has been in chorus for three years and also in the Jugs. Gloria Martin Laughter is her philosophy . Gloria was sole typist for the yearbook and hopes to make typing her career. She joined the Jugs as a sopho- more, and played in the band for five years. The Junior Play found her on the sidelines as prompter. Gloria likes to roller skate, ice skate, and read a little. Lillian Mayer I can because I believe I can. The gal we know as a cafeteria cashier likes to sew, go camping, and sing. Lillian belonged to the Pep Club, Senior Lit- erary Club, and the Sci- ence and Library Clubs. Chorus, School Council, and the Junior Play also number among her ac- tivities. Lillian wants to teach in the elementary grades. Helen McCallom Whatever happens, smile. It might be worse. An aspiring authoress, Helen also likes to write poetry. Quiet but help- ful, she worked on the Junior Play, the Junior- Senior Banquet, and class committees. Dramatics Club and Handicrafts Club activities will be beneficial when she be- comes an elementary teacher. Helen works at a photography studio. Maxine Meddaugh Quietness is a sign of intelligence. Maxine divides her time among many things. The Pep Club, chorus, intra- mural sports, and vari- ous class committees have kept her busy. She likes to relax with roller skating and ice skating, and plans to become a beauty operator. Ernest Merrithew Courage is never out of Fashion. An all-around sport is the best way to describe Ernie. He played foot- ball, basketball, track and baseball, and partici- pated i n intramural sports. He was a repre- sentative on the School Council, and a member of the Varsity Club and chorus. Ernie sang with the Four Chimes after hours. His outside inter- ests are sports, and his ambition is to be a coach. Roger Mertz I ' m not lazy just don ' t want to work. Originally from Port Huron High School, Rog. er took part in chorus and intramural volleyball and basketball. The wat- er seems to be his favor- ite haunt, and he also likes hunting and fish- ing. Roger is headed for college in the fall. Marilyn Middleton Worry and I have never met. Marilyn plans to travel and do some writing in the future. Along with work in the Jugs, chorus, Amplifier, yearbook and G.A.A., Marilyn likes to read books, write poetry and ice skate. Also sports-minded, she took part in intramural volley, ball and basketball. Margaret Moore ' Tis love that makes the world go round. Margaret, who has been a librarian, has an un- usual hobby, that of col- lecting blown-glass orna- ments. She also likes to cook and try her hand at embroidering. Margaret has been a member of the Pep Club for two years and worked on class committees. She plans to be married after graduation. Nan Mortimer Her heart is like the moon- a man ' s in it. If you have ever seen a feminine streak zoom- ing down the river, you can bet it ' s Nan, the boat- racer, and she is stiff competition. When she is tired of being on the water, she gets into it! Nan also dabbles in ceramics, and is a musi- cian. She was in the Pep Club and Junior Play, and wants to be a teach- er. 66 Robert Nicholas None but himself can be his equal ' Bob, or Nick, as we know him, spends most of his school time work- ing for the Hi-Y, and went to Lansing as a re- presentative last fall. Nick played basketball in the eleventh and twelfth grades. After graduation he wants to become a construction equipment operator, and in The meantime he likes to hunt, fish, and work on cars. Konald Perkins A rolling eye, a roving heart. Band, chorus, the Four Chimes Quartet, and the dance band were Ron ' s activities, as well as foot, ball, basketball, track, and intramural sports. He was twice named on the all-county football roster. Ron was class president for two years, and took part in the Jun- ior Play, Varsity and Senior Literary Clubs. He plans to become a math- ematical physicist. Carol Perry She ' d like to have you know she ' s dangerous. Carol was a cheerleader and class secretary for three years, and worked on the Amplifier for two years, this year as editor- in-chief. She sang in chorus, was chairman of the J-Hop, and a mem- ber of the Jugs for three years. Carol also likes sports, her favorite being swimming. She plans to teach after she finishes college. Clark Pollard He has great hopes for the future. Clark has played foot- ball, basketball, baseball and track for Marysville, played in the band for four years, and belonged to the Hi-Y Club and Science Club for one year each. He played in. tramural sports and worked in a grocery af- ter school. After college Clark plans to become a mechanical engineer. Patricia Pelc To judge this maiden right you must know her well. Intramural sports have played a part in Pat ' s school career. Chorus, School Council, and class committees took up more of her time. A member of the Library Club, the Scholastic Club, and the Pep Club, Pat plans to become a secretary. In the meantime, she likes to play records, listen to the radio, and dance. Donald Radske Men are not measured by inches. Don has been working for three years at a gro- cery store. Don likes to hunt, ice skate, roller skate, and work with his car. No tenderfoot, Don rides a horse well. He is undecided about what the future holds for him. Lawrence Rands I never let my school- work interfere with my education. Larry was a familiar sight on the Marysville grid- iron. He has played foot, ball, basketball, and track, which qualified him for Varsity Club membership for the last two years. Larry played intramural volleyball and basketball, and was the vice-president of his freshman class. His main hobby is playing tennis, and he wants to be a pilot. Amos Reid Ideas control the world. Hi-Y, Pep Club, and Camera Club are just three of the activities in which Amos has taken part. He played a stut- tering janitor in the Jun- ior Play, worked on the J-Hop, played basketball in the ninth and tenth grades, and also played intramural sports. His hobbies are baseball and carpentry, and he plans to be an architect. 67 Ruth Ann Richer Her friendship is the breathing rose, with sweets in every fold. Collecting character dolls, skating, and photography are Ruth Ann ' s methods of spending leisure time. As for class activities she worked on Home- coming, J-Hop, and sev- eral committees. I n sports, Ruth Ann played intramural basketball and volleyball. She was in band for five years and in chorus, one. Ruth Ann will become a nurse. Donna Rix Life is short and so am 1. Donna participated in basketball, volleyball, and badminton. She has sung in the chorus for three years and has been a member of the library staff as a senior. For two years she has belonged to the Pep Club. Her hobbies are to skate, dance, and sing. The career she chooses is that of a beauty oper- ator. James Roberts Every man is best known to himself. Jim played baseball dur- ing his freshman year and has worked on a newspaper for three years of co-op. He likes to hunt, and work on cars and trucks. He hopes to make the latter his ca- reer. Norma Robinson Smooth runs the water where the brook is deep. Norma played volleyball and baseball during her freshman year. Her hob- bies are collecting pic- tures of movie stars, rol- ler-skating and ice-skat- ing. Her goal in life is to travel far and wide. Anne Robson Nothing is so popular as goodness. In her freshman year, Anne participated in 4-H Club work and playe d on the girls ' baseball team. Embroidery work fascinates Anne and is her hobby, along with swimming and skating. She is looking forward to a career of nursing and then marriage. Shirley Rock Silence is golden. Very active in her fresh- man year, Shirley be- longed to the Dramatics and Dancing Clubs. In the same year she was a member of the girls ' baseball and basketball teams. Lately she has worked as a car hop and baby-sitter. As a hobby she collects salt and pep- per shakers. This fall will find her traveling to California. Mary Lou Roehl Quietness often hides a joyous heart. Mary Lou has been a librarian during her sophomore and junior years at Marysville, and has been a member of the Pep Club for two years. Her hobby, cook- ing, goes hand in hand with her ambition to be a housewife. She also intends to be a secretary. Arnold Rose I don ' t tell white lies, mine are all in technicolor. Arnie has been a repre- sentative of students as president of Junior High Council and a member of the Senior School Coun- cil. Each year has found Arnie a member of the chorus, and football, basketball and track teams. As a result he be- longs to the Varsity Club. In his junior year he played the detective in the Junior Play. 68 v Darwin Rots A man of few words, but many thoughts. Darwin has been very active in 4-H work and his ambition is to be in the navy. Richard Rutkofske Hold the fort, I ' m coming. Dick is an ambitious man, working in a grocery store while in high school. He also has an unusual hobby, collect- ing match book covers. His ambition is to be- come an electrician or a machinist. Janet Saunders Better the short, sweet joys than a long, drawn- out monotony. Janet is a girl with many hobbies. She likes to ice- skate, roller skate, go horse-back riding and dancing. Her ambition is to become a secretary and to marry. Patricia Schnuphate To be strong is to be happy Pat attended Sweetest Heart of Mary High School in Detroit and al- so Port Huron High be- fore coming to Marys- ville. Here she joined the Jugs and also the Pep Club. Her hobbies are horseback riding and skating. She is looking forward to being a tele- phone operator. Raymond Siemen Longer liveth a glad man than a sorry man. Looking back, we saw Ray not only as a mem- ber of the football, base- ball, track and basketball teams but also playing intramural volleyball and basketball. He also be- longed to the Varsity Club. Besides sports his hobbies are hunting and fishing. Ray expects to join the Air Force. Gloria Shaffer Thoughtful, quiet, and well-liked. Her hobby, music, led Gloria to the band as a member for two years and to the chorus for a year. She belongs to the Pep Club and works for the Credit Bureau. Her ambition is to become a very good secretary. Janet Shannon All things are easy that are done willingly. Janet has been a mem- ber of the Pep Club and Chorus for two years. She has been a Jug for three years and recorder for the Senior Literary Club. She hopes to be- come either a pharmacist or an elementary teach- ( er. Ronald Smarch A quiet man, but quite a man. A member of the Hi-Y, Ron hands out programs at the games. He work- ed on the year book last year, along with being a service station attend- ant. His hobby is tinker- ing with cars, which he hopes will bring him a full-time good job. 69 James Smiley Think before you act! His freshman year found Jim at St. Stephens High School where he played football. Coming to Marysville he played in- tramural basketball, was a member of the football team, and also a mem- ber of the chorus. His hobbies are dogs and hunting, and his am- bition is to become a policeman. Lois Turner If I can ' t find anything to laugh about, I just giggle. Lois was a majorette in her junior year. She played baseball in the ninth grade, and likes to go dancing and bowl- ing in her spare time. After she graduates, Lois plans to be married. Dale Stoliker It is not only the bold who win. Dale is a member of the Hi-Y Club, and was a member of the 4-H Club for three years. In the tenth grade, he ployed B-Squad basketball. Af- ter school he works as a stock boy. When he ' s not working he likes to collect coins and stamps. Dale plans to be an engi. neer someday. Stanley Ulrich Good-natured and a friend to all. Stan has done a lot of math and science, with chemical engineering as his goal. Active in bas- ketball and football, Stan also belonged to the Senior Literary Club, and has been a 4-H Club member for three years. His spare time is spent on horseback riding, ping-pong, and construe, tion work. Beverly VanWormer She always comes up smiling. Bev has served in the 4-H Club for three years, and also in the Civil Air Patrol for three years. She was on the ninth grade baseball team at Kimball. Her favorite pastime is sewing, and she is looking forward to marriage after grad- uation. James Warren Work has killed many a man! Why die? Sports have played a large part in Jim ' s high school career. He has played football, basket- ball, baseball and track; also intramural volleyball and basketball. His two favorite hobbies a r e hunting and fishing. Jim plans to do road con- struction work after he graduates. Herbert Wendt Has plenty on his mind although he says little. Herb is one of the fel- lows in the day trade class and one of his rea- sons for being there is that he hopes to become a mechanic. He makes model airplanes and boats, and he also goes hunting. Right now Herb works after school at a bakery. Eugene Westbrook Someday the world will need a man. Gene has been very ac- tive in sports: track, foot- ball, basketball, base- ball, intramural baseball and basketball. He also participated in chorus, Hi-Y, Varsity Club, and class activities. After school he works for a newspaper. His hobby is hunting. 70 Nancy Wibon By the work, we know the workman ' Nancy has quite an un- usual hobby - collecting costume dolls. In the line of school activities she has been in chorus for three years, the Pep Club, Dramatics Club, 4-H Club, and she play- ed baseball in the ninth grade. After graduation Nancy would like to be- come a private secretary. Frederick Wolven Don ' t bother him, he ' s doing all right. Fred has played all the intramural sports: base, ball, basketball, bad- minton and volleyball. He also played basket- ball, golf and track on school teams. He has worked in Camera Club, H i - Y, Senior Literary Club, four years of band, and many class activities. He likes to read and wants to become a teach- er. Kenneth Wolven A young man full of great ability and promise. Ken has participated in the Senior Literary Club, Pep Club, Science Club, Camera Club, Junior Play, the yearbook, and has been active in most class activities. Band has been a four-year activity for him, and music and photography are his hob- bies. Ken has been golf- ing for M.H.S. for two years. He plans to work in elementary education. Rita Wrubel There is no wisdom like frankness. Swimming, ice skating, and tennis are Rita ' s hob- bies. Clubwise , she belongs to the Jugs and the Pep Club. She play- ed volleyball, basket- ball, and was a member of the G.A.A. in the ninth grade. In senior high she has belonged to the band, chorus, and G. A. A. After graduation Rita wants to become a telephone operator. SENIOR ADVISORS Wiley Zimmerman A great mind becomes a great fortune. At St. John High School, as well as Marysville, Wiley was active in sports and student activ- ities. He was a member of the Senior Literary Club, Science Club, Hi-Y, and Varsity Club, and he played basketball for two years. Working on radio electronics and car motors are Wiley ' s hob- bies. He plans to become an electrical engineer.
