Fnell, B Latimer, R Rhode 74 pfdq gland Under the leadership of Head Coach Tom Branigan and Assistant Coach Jerry Royal, the football team began turning out two weeks before school actually began Although most of last year's regulars had been lost through grad- uatian, there were ten lettermen returning. In an effort to build a strong, potent team with a relatively small and J Kircher inexperienced squad, the coaches and players spent many long tedious nights of work on the gridiron, It was a determined Tomahawk team that iourneyed to Lake Stevens for their initial contest. However, they were met by strong opposition in the Vikings and in the dying minutes of play the Lakers managed to cross the double chalk line for the winning tally and the score stood l3-lQ After this loss the Tomahawks faced Mt. Si, It was their first home game of the season and the Asbery Field stands were filled to capacity with home town supporters. The stage was set and the Terrahafvks didn't disappoint the rooters, 'winning a hard fought game, l2-6. Now having gained confidence, the Tomarawks faced the Snohomish Panthers. When the finfil gun stopped the action, Marysville had blanked the Panth- ers, 7-O. plagued by iniuries, the Tommies failed to win any of their remaining games, however, they never lost their fighting spirit ln an award assembly at the end of the season these boys were honored by being selected by their team mates as the best blocker, Bob Glson, best tackler, Verne Ledford, and inspirational leader, John Mitchell.
