If we stop and think about it, we hnd it takes good team work and cooperation behind the scenes to make anything a real success. That is why we the 1955 Quil Ceda staff are taking you behind the scenes in words and pictures to give credit to those who have given their time and efforts for a well re- membered year, Congratulations to the faculty. students, and ESPECIALLY . . 0 MR THURNTUN -Q 1 Nr I 1 1114111111111 mu r IUFIIIOII thun murals lfLllL1fklL1LllLUflCIl Mr 1l111r11u I1 5 II115 Q 11 W the u Lx1111g K ll lr 1 11111111 uhm IL s Ln Q S011 I 1 lb L 11111 wr L L 1111s 18 wall is 111 r t111 5 l1c Q 1 5 iftlllllki IN 1 Xl Q H1L,l1SLl1m L thc sz xt! 1 1 s I1 Q IL 1r1 r 1211 Q 16 1 I M 'Il t our kim 1111 1 ful LLlbl0LillH P Q 1' 4 -1 -4 1 I1 P D C rn us TIIMAHAWK HUNURS 'LA6-VJHJILI MARYBVILLE HIGH BCHDDL I. Measure Up, says Principal lt is our earnest hope that the information and knowledge you have acquired here will serve you well in your future vocations, your college experiences. your family relationships, your com- munity responsibilities. XX'e hope, too, that the guidance received from teachers and counselors have helped you along paths that will prove tnost productive. XX'e know that many of the friend- ships fostered at Marysville High School among fellow students and faculty will live and strengthen .is time goes by. Many vital decisions and tremendous re- sponsibilities await you in the years ahead. If a troubled, strife-torn world is to survive, you must measure up to them The preparation obtained here is but a start toward preparing yotirselves for obligations that are certain to require all the wisdom and courage you can muster. Good luck! MR. Fowl FR Primzpul Thought for the future from our Superintendant 'L ,1, 5 A As one pictures the high school graduate standing on the threshold, stepping out into life and facing his future many thoughts come to mind. One recalls all the efforts that have been expended by the home, the church and the school to prepare this graduate to face his future with ability and confidence. Wfhat would one ask the graduate to take with him always to help him to make decisions? May I offer the following thoughts to guide you in making the important decisions of your life? Consider well, then decide positively. Many complain of their memory, few of their judgment. Many receive adviceg only the wise proht by it. No man s judgment is better than his information. Reason often makes mistakes, but conscience never does. Think with the few. and speak with the many. W'e reason from our head, but act from our heart. R. CQ. Their student council was entirely a sudent organization advised by Mr. Dobson. They are organized for the purpose of conducting all the business of the junior High School ASB. Their represent- atives are their A.S.B. orhcers, Boys' and Girls' club presidents, class presidents and eight home room representatives, Board of control representatives, and the F.H.A. president. One of the junior High Student councils projects this year was a talent show. Another project was the buying of coat hangers for the Intermediate building. -,al Jwgllqgw 7 'ici 1 ar. 52 ff 'Q ti 5 J P, 'lL!PJl!gg'!Q'VA nmwajff Q... . Simmons Great Responsibility is Given to Bus Drivers A big responsibility in our school district is transporting students to and from school A bus driver must keep the students quiet and keep them from breaking any rules while they are on the bus. Out bus drivers drive in all kinds of weather and on all types of toads They have a lot of patience and cheerful spirits I believe they put up with a lot of things that most people do not realize. A bus driver must be prepared for most anything that could happen under such circumstances The bus drivers take groups of high school students to and from different activities such as taking a club to Seattle for different occasions Fine Meals Prepared by Cooks I wonder how many tons of food are consumed in our cafeteria. l bet it would surprise even the cooks if the facts were really known. This year as in the past the food has been prepared in the Liberty school cafeteria and transported over to the high school. This elimi- nates much of fhe confusion caused when the younger students were transported over here. Thanksgiving and Christmas are looked forward to with great anticipation. On these days a fine turkey dinner is served to practically all students in the school district. J 2 fly ' If lysis - NEW COUNSELI.OR'S OFFICE ' Custoclians Continuully Keep School Clean The custodians work very hard to keep our school as clean and attractive as possible. Besides keeping the school clean, they are responsible for doing the gardening. maintaining the grounds, planting flower beds, trimming shrubbery, keeping the athletic Field in shape, and working in the furnace room. Their day does not begin at 8:45 and end at 5:50 as ours does. At night there is always someone around cleaning up the school. At nights when many students enjoy themselves playing basketball and engaging in other activities they fail to realize that a custodian must stay there and make sure that everything is all right. How do we show our appreciation - certainly we could improve our habits and way of living in our lockers, halls and in the classrooms. 4' V- Emma Basiyx, Ella Fifch Anna Clark O' - MR. Thats the kind of team this years was. Coach Ciablehouse expressed this thought at the Basketball Award Assembly on April l. The Tomahawks led by Captain -lerry New- man won 9 and lost 9 games. The Squad ended up in Hfth place and earned a berth in the District Tournament. However, the team was eliminated right away after losing nrst to the Ifverett Seagulls and then to Arlington. Captain jerry Newman was awarded the inspirational awardsg john Mitchell received the ball hawk ping and lan Hilton captured free throw honors. Ian and john also were named co-captains for next year. The whole student body can be proud of both themselves and the team. Iiach showed plenty of spirit, good sportsmanship. and clean play. They worked very hard to inspire their basketball team. Much time was spent outside of school plan- ning their songs, yells and uniforms. These girls gained good experience for their high school years when they will probably want to go on being song queens and cheerleaders. They are our youngest group of cheerleaders who do a good job in their colorful uniforms. The cheerleaders' uniforms were red sweaters and white peddle-pushers. The song queens' outfits were blue skirts, white sweaters and red weskits. Good luck to them in future years of helping to inspire our future ball teams. This class provides library experience, They shelve books that are checked in, check out books for students, mend books and assist students in locating necessary information. By performing these duties they assist Miss Borger who is the high school librarian. For the first time this year, the seventh grade was provided with service in the library. Each of the five seventh grade classes came into the library during first period on different days. K.O.P. Renders Service There are three boys from each class in the K.O.P., or Knights of the Paddle. Thanks to them the people at games are urged to keep the rules that the school has set. lf a member is taken out for any reason they are replaced by some other interested member of his own class, The seniors. however, are not replaced. The advisor for this group is Mr. Rounds. The graduating seniors that belong to K.O.P. receive pins at the end of the year and also receive activity points for each year of service. Lights! Camera! Action! A group of boys and girls that are always in de- mand are the projection crew. These students have a great responsibility, that of running the movie pro- jectors and seeing that everything is in good working order. They must see that the machine is put back and they must report any defects in the machine or any of the equipment to Mr. Gibson who is their advisor. l 01155 1 i Pro action Crew Bock row L to R C Morden R Nielson L Anderson B Gran KOP Back row L to R N Mix C Anderson T Broolu J lol I ford J Emory Mr Rounds Advisor F nt row L to R J D Smith L Kelly G Stork Front row L to R D Barclay J Schalow G Whitton Glolaag B McQueston B Grooms N Mix G lygrg B Brown T Booman B Hogoborg Class of 1930 Honored of '54 Homecoming 0lD GRADS REGISTER JANICE TREIDER-Homecoming Queen The 1954 Homecoming, which was held on November fifth, was one of the interesting events during the football sea- Queen Janice and hu Cow' son.
