Vernon l4 The Marysville Tomahawks, defending champions of the county and also co-champions of the Northwest League, started the l946 season with a victory over Sedro-Woolley, and looked as it they were really going places. After defeating Monroe 26-6 for their second victory of the young season, Marysvilles championship hopes suffered a severe iolt when they dropped a hard-fought game to Snohomish. Several other boys are looking very good in turnout. The thin clads expected to do exceptionally well this year are: Paul Norwood Wes Peterson Wayne Williams Dave Wilson and Chet Ashman. Chet nevi to Marysville this year placed fifth in the Oregon State Meet lait -eason in the high jump. There are many meets this season to prepare the boys for the county district and state meets. GIRLS' M CLUB - lcontinued from page 44l Those initiated this year were Joyce Walberg Dorothy Misz Mildred Tharson and Donna Litehiser. The above girls and Shirley Norberg Carol Bedford Ruth Gallagher and Sharon Francisco were initiated into the County Girls' Athletic Association. The M Club girls showed up very well at the Sports Days this year. PAGE FORTY-FIVE GIRLS' TURN-OUT The l946-47 season of the Girls' Turn-out started in September with speedball. The number of girls turning out this year greatly exceeds that of the last few years, as the Sophomores and Freshmen seem to ao in for sports very much. Speeball sports day was held in Marysville, and was a huge success. Music was provided by Thue's band. John Morris was general chairman, assisted by Myrna Ackerman, decorations, Margaret Matson, entertainment, Noel Kelley, orchestra, Shirley Marken, refreshments, Betty Hanstad, adver- tisement and program, and Ed Poteet, cleanup. The entire class worked on committees. GIRLS CLUB TOLO The Tolo, May 7, followed the theme of Blossom Time. Under a canopy of ribbons radiating from a May Pole, couples danced to the music of LaVon Johnson. About the floor were trees decorated with flowers and birds, park benches, fountains, arches, and butterflies. At intermission time Noel Kelley, Bob Harrier, Gaynell Dunn and Merle Connell entertained. Latern Stewart was general chairman. Earlier in the week a special Tolo Day gave the girls a chance to carry books and open doors for the boys to get in the proper spirit for the occasion.
