BURsLEIvI For 'Lsnappy' action, the Kodak Klub takes the prize. Students who are interested in the many phases of amateur photography get plenty of practice here. During the course of the year three illustrated lec- tures were enjoyed by the club members. NIARCARET Bttoww The Library Club is really a service club, as it helps all of the students and teachers at NIPHS. The mem- bers take care of checking out books. keep books in good condition. and see that the shelves are orderly. An attractive display of articles on vocations of all kinds is also maintained on the bulletin board. At regularly scheduled meetings, the club members discuss ways and means of improving the library. They give their time freely toward this end. One or two so- cial functions are held during the year. These usually consist of parties on Christmas and Yalentine Day. 1940 MUSICAL ACTIVITIES illusit' Instructor NIR-. TIIERFNA SCI-IICK Orchestra Leader MR. 5A1vII'EL Yi. FIAHKIN Under the heading of musical activities come three groups of enterpiising student- who have proved that they are invaluable to KIPHS by their cooperation in participating in school activities. The Mixed Chorus. consisting of both hoys and girls, and the Girls' Glee Club have taken part in the Christ- mas play- Gifts of Myrrhfl the Gym Show, the Senior Commencement Exercises. and the maiority of the plays and assemblies. The Boys' Glee Club comes in for a share of these honors also. as its members took part in many of these same activities. The main production of the Blu-ic Department was the operetta. Chonita . This was the story of a Gypsy Princess. who. while visiting a Baron. met and fell in love with his son. However. when the gypsies read in the stars Chonita's future. she returns to her own people. Cootc Many of the members of the Home Economics Club take part in a State-wide activity program. The MPHS club is on the State Roll of Honor for student home economic clubs. This is a real distinction for Maryland Park. The club issues a paper called Home Ec Echoes , which expresses the ideas derived from the club discus- sions and demonstrations on cooking and clothing.

A truly beneficial club, it gives the members real practice and good preparation for a job in the aviation industry. COOK For a boys' club that is different, this one is really it. The members learn how to set a table correctly, cook meals, and the very mainly art of cleaning up afterwards. Then join the MPHS Girl Scouts! This group of girls faithfully learn inter- esting. worthwhile facts and enjoy a full program of really exciting activities. IRA NIEASELL Another name for this club might be Manners for Malesn because it teaches boys how to dress and act upon every occasion as well as how to assume responsi- bilities both social and business. Questions of conduct are brought up at the meetings and discussed by the members. A social program is planned to give the boys an op- portunity to put what they have learned into practice, The high point of this program is usually a dance spon- sored by the club and attended by only the members and their guests.
