The class officers for that year were Robert Smith, presidentg Violet Smith, vice-president, Raymond Stack, secretary, and Ralph Palmer, treasurer. The following year, these Parkers emerged as oriented veterans of a full yearis standing and arose in their own esteem accordingly. Although they decreased in number to one hundred and four, did they not now have a class beneath them? In '38, they became Juniors and made bold to speak of the lowly Freshmenf' Real upper classmen at last! Freshman days became vague memories as the distinction of soon becoming Seniors brightened the near future. 1939 and the last round! They had now arrived at the atop of the heapf' These now seventy-four Seniors possessed that grown-up feeling and the sense of real achievement that comes from pushing forward to finish in the lead. Ralph Palmer, Paul Beyer, and Daniel Ewell proved themselves promising athletes and added many laurels to the brow of their Alma Mater. Ruth Kiefer and Dorothy Humes devoted much of their time to the production of this annual, and respectively received the saluta- torian and valedictorian awards. Janet Smith in her capactiy as editor-in- chief guided the course of the Parkiscope. Paul Martin as president directed the progress of the Student Council. The Senior oflicers for the 1940 Graduating Class were Robert Smith, president, Ellis Hanback, vice- president, Florence Hamilton, secretary, and Ruiiner Hill, treasurer.
