From Rich to FAMOUS!!! King Richard I A new tradition started at MSHS this year, a Winter Homecoming for the guys called Winter Festival King . Coach Tony Dobra, along with the GAA, came up with the idea during the beginning of basketball season. Every year we have the traditional Homecoming Queen at a boys ' Varsity game during football season. Why not have a King at a GIRLS ' Varsity game dur- ing basketball season??? Precisely the reasoning of Coach Dobra! Ten Senior guys were chosen by the Senior Class, according to personality, achievement, and involvement. Five were taken from the ten which made up the court. On January 27th, the Winter Festival Princes were escorted by the Homecoming Princesses during halftime of the Girls ' Varsity game vs. St. Bernard ' s. Rich Collins was crowned as first Winter Festival King of 1984. His court was, Jeff Marchin, John Morreale, Vito Russo, and Ricardo Sepulveda. A big thanks goes to Coach Dobra and the GAA with the help of Jeanna Dragich, for the planning and preparation of this event, (the white tux was hot!) CONGRATULATIONS RICH!!! 66 Activities Section

TO THE BIG APPLE! MARKERS . . . UH, HAREM? February 23-26, 1984 Six Mary Star students had the opportunity to attend the tenth annual National High School Model United Na- tions Conference this year. The conference was held in New York ' s Sheraton Centre. Our students served as diplomats representing our assigned country, the Cape Verde Islands, in simulated United Nations sessions. They got first hand experience in the theory and practice of in- ternational relations. Mr. Markey, as the only male going on the trip (wonder how he managed that?), was con- tinually teased about taking his harem to New York. He met with other faculty members in New York to discuss the model United Nations program and also got to see our students in action!
