VARSITY SONGLEADERS ' - . j ' i This year ' s Songleading Squad consisted of 6 girls. In its se- cond year at Mary Star, the songleaders accomp anied the cheerleaders in promoting spirit. They also shared duties with them by taking the coaches as their players. This year, a need was felt to make a more visible distinction between the squads. As Songleaders, they were the only squad to execute dance routines. Their performances were accented with the use of gloves or pom-pons. VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Captain Gina Katnich Co-Capt. Renee Marinkovich The 1983-1984 Varsity Cheerleaders consisted of 10 girls. Working together with the Songleaders, they helped to sup- port the teams by promoting spirit and enthusiasm at games and pep rallies. This year ' s squad added a new dimension to cheerleading at Mary Star. With the help and direction of Teri Katnich, they entered various competitions throughout the year. JUNIOR VARSITY CHEERLEADING Captain Danielle DiBernardo Co-Captain Kathy Clinton The 1983-1984 Junior Varsity Cheerleaders consisted of eight girls. In conjunction with the other pep squads, the J.V. Cheerleaders helped to create enthusiastic pep rallies. Their ac- tivities consisted of attending a U.S.A. Cheer Camp, entering competition, and showing their spirit by cheering on their freshmen and J.V. teams. Giving their support to the athletes, they kept the crowds going and entertained.
