JC .1.... 1 l.. ih .• ur best shot! m ' ii i I 1 11 III 1 1 r-- ' •• BOYS ' mii 2. Where ' s the ball ' The 1984 JV Stars have had a bit of a rollercoaster ride this year. Two straight CRL League losses at the start of the season shook us just enough to heat up our bats and begin a five-game win streak, highlighted by Lillo Augello bringing his bat- ting average to a peak at .848. Our current CRL record stands at six wins, four losses, with four league games remaining. We anticipate winning the remainder of our games, and holding undisputed possession of second place in the CRL Junior Varsity standings, certainly to be considered a successful season. In addition to Augello, several players stand out as excellent prospects for next year ' s varsity squad, including Gil Mar- quez, Bobby Bell, Paul Salazar, Tim Braheem, and Chris Sosenko. Special mention should be made of the fine job perform- ed by this year ' s team captain, Anthony Mardesich, who not only displayed outstanding abilities as our catcher, but also exhibited an excellent standard of leadership. I also want to extend a debt of gratitude to Coach Ernie Silvas, without whose help we could never have enjoyed the measure of success we ' ve had. Thanks for your support. Under the guidance ot Ues Walker, Mary Star has become an outstanding and first class baseball program that should make the school, students, fans and community very proud. The future of the program looks extremely bright. As Freshmen coach, I am blessed with not only a talented group of athletes, but a very intelligent group of students. This is evident by the fact that the average grade point average for the 17 players is a 3.2. As coach, I look forward to a successful season; a season filled with excite- ment and good times. I thank my coaching staff for their hard work. I also thank the best team manager a coach could have — Geordy Hershman. A special thanks to Coach Walker at Mary Star, and last, but not least, I thank the 17 great guys for their sup- port, hustle, and attitudes. I anxiously look forward to the ' future — and the future is . . .
