Sophomores Concentrate on G.PA Mary Star of the Sea High School is a Catholic educational community which seeks to further the spread of the message of the Gospel by means of an educational apostolate. The Class of ' 84 had the opportunity to grow and respond to the message of the Gospel in the San Pedro community. The Sophomores strived to create a caring and understanding environment in which each individual could make wise choices for his her life. With the help of Sister Joan O.S.F., Sophomores received the educational background in areas of academics, college choices, and spiritual guidance. Courses in English and Literature, taught by Mr. DiMassa, were available to Sophomores. These courses have specific areas of study, and con- tributed to the broadening of a students ' knowledge and appreciation towards education. Biology and General Science were requirements for all Sophomores. Taught by Mrs. Munoz and Mr. Hallock, these courses provide students with knowledge of all types of living creatures ranging from minute, single celled organisms to homosapiens. The religion curriculum, for this year ' s Sophomores, was one which ex- plored and delved into every aspect of God. Courses such as Church History and Sacraments helped in rounding out their religious training. The Fine and Practical Arts courses, taught by Ms. Elaine Bersano, helped the Sophomores gain fine skills, develop artistic talents and habits which they can use in everyday life. In giving guidance and spiritual aided to the Class of ' 84, Mrs. Tavernier helped Sophomores grow increasingly aware of all phases of life around them, through books and library materials. 1.
