Freshmen Gear Up for the Years Ahead The backbone of all good high school athletic pro- grams are the lower division teams. At Mary Star the free-lance Freshman Baseball team has con- stantly provided the JV ' s and Varsity with quality players. This year is no exception. Battery Mates Lead Stars Toward Title Senior Patti Gomez and Sophomore sensation Regina Gray will attempt to carry the Stars to their second straight Sunrise League softball cham- pionship. The fielding of Junior Michele Ogle and the consistent bats of Sophomore Sylvia Bauer and Senior Jackie Carrolle will complement the strong pitcher- catching duo. Coach Tony Dobra and Sandy Simich expect the squad to travel further than their quarter final playoff finish last year. To accomplish this feat young players like Anita Atencio, Paula Pecotich, and Deann Papadakis must contribute. 1 . Senior Patti Gomez provides the Stars with leadership and maturity. 2.
