everywhere Orchestra The Martinsburg high school orches- tra, composed of 25 pieces, had one ol its most active years in the history of the organization. They played for as- sembly programs ar l-ledgesville. Bunker l-lill. Shepherdstown. and Harpers Ferry, and for all of the dramatic pre- sentations here. Four members of the orchestra repree sented the school for the first time at the All-Stale high school orchestra. Of the four, two of them received first chairs: Eugene Price. trombone, and Bill Jones, bass. Audrey Clendening and Amos Turner received fourth and fifth chairs, respectively. in the second violins. There's music Bond The band, under the direction of Roderick Linger, has completed a year of wide activity. The band won Hrsr place in competition at the Turkey Festival in Harrisonburg, Virginia. They participated in several parades, among them the Mummer's Parade in Hagerstown, Md., the Apple Harvest Parade in Martinsburg, and the Tomato Festival Parade in Berkeley Springs. The band gave several open air concerts, and two concerts in the high school auditorium. Eugene Price, trombonist, won the American Legion Music Medal as the outstanding member of the band. All the world s Public Speaking Club The Public Speaking club had for 1940- 41 its most active year since the club was formed in 1938. Under its adviser, Charles A. Lord. and program committee co-chairmen, Frank Reaves and Anne Chapman. the club had varied programs and activities.
