IN THE YEAR 1975 In the year of nineteen and seventy-five, The Mighty Warriors would take no jive. The first game was a really tough one, When the Mighty Warriors played Addison. Addison just barely pulled through, With seven points from a big boo-boo . The next week the Warriors played Curry, And that game was over in no big hurry. The Warriors really fought that night, As they lost the war but won the fight. The Warriors went to Oakman for a wildcat hunt, Boy, you should have heard those Wildcats grunt. The Warriors brought home a lot of meat, As Oakman suffered a big defeat. Next was the big game of the year, With Parrish as everyone was soon to hear. The Warriors were ready and willing to play, And all that hot air just vanished away. The trip to West Jefferson was a big let down, As the Warriors stumbled onto the ground . The homecoming game was set for this week, And the team for the game was the Tigers from Meek. Mullens was hurt in this big game , Then the mighty Warrior, Larry Key went into fame. The Warriors pulled through with a big victory , And the Warrior fans were happy with glee. Cold Springs came to Warrior Country, And left them with a record of 4-3. The Warriors traveled to Lynn that week , And showed the Bears they couldn't be beat . The County's Top Scorer was taken by David Key, With 61 points so far, yippee! The next opponent the Warriors would meet, Would be Berry at home that week. The Warriors last game at home for the year, Brought a saddened heart and a happy tear. The Warriors defeated the Berry team, And all the Seniors had a certain gleam. The Warriors ended the season 69-0, As they played West Birmingham Christian, ya know. The season ended as all things do, With most points scored and fewest points allowed , yah-hoo. David Key won the County's Top Scorer, With 96 points, good going ole boy. The coaches were happy as they yelled to their boys: Go Williams, and Henderson and Mason and Stevens, You Keys and Lollar, Cornelius and Kelley, Blackwell and Perkins. Cause they are our Seniors those wonderful boys. The year of nineteen and seventy-five, Was one great year for all of the guys. Continued good luck through all the years, So we can be happy and boost you with cheers. Karen Key Written for the 1975-'76 Football banquet for Martin High School.
