The contract for construction went to A. Medina Martinez. the lowest bidder at S32.109. He started construction on Iuly lst and completed it on Septem- ber 30th. New Lighting System For Shirley Field Best lighted field in the State of Texas was the rating given Shirley Field by C. W. Iones, Westinghouse engineer of Houston. The construction was begun on September 3. 1947, and completed on October 9. Koenig Electric Company contracted to do the work for S20.000.00. 108 units of 189,500 watts were installed for the football field: 10 units for the track of 1500 watts: and 1 unit 1500 watts for the lamp to light the flag pole.
