General science students learned by inductive reasoning through laboratory and classroom work, while other stu- dents explored chemistry with a combination of textbook and laboratory experiments. The yellow version emphasizes the cell as the unit from which life is built, and the blue version derives from the concept that the molecule is the building block of life.
