1938 MAHISCAN 1938 Nw K gl'e5kman 674155 gfisfory On September seventh, 75 boys and 59 girls be- came the freshman class, the first class of l94l and in January this number was increased by 23 mid-term freshmen. The first activitiy taken up by the class was the election of officers to lead the class through its first year. Those elected were: Vernon Kolen, president, i Bill Clabaugh, vice-president, Pat Giles, secretary, and James Solberg, sergeant-at-arms. Miss Titus was the T class adviser. l The class presented its annual assembly which 8 proved quite entertaining to the assembled students and Giles to the faculty and is grateful to Miss Titus for her work in directing the assembly. There were 25 boys on the freshman football squad, and several players of real promise were found. Eight freshman boys became members of the B Squad basketball team. The freshman class was prominent in activities. Nineteen freshmen joined the Ma-Hi Times staff and six the debate squad. The boys were active in the Buccaneer and the Boys' Chorus while the girls did their part in Girls' League and Trianon. The Band was increased by ten freshmen members. The class may be expected to follow the example set by the other classes and lead in school spirit and activities. Clabau h Kolen 23
