A week of Homecoming Makes one weak Celebration was the theme of the 1986 Homecoming, and that was exactly what loyal fans and students did after the Herd's spec- tacular 63-14 defeat of Davidson Oct. 25. On the morning before kickoff, participants in the banner contest and Homecoming court met in front of the home of President Dale F. Nitzschke. The banners were judged and, the court was in- troduced. Celebrating with her children, Queen Sheila Mullarhy Dailey kneel: to hug 1y were planned during the parade that was supposed to take place through Ritter Park to Fairfield Stadium but because of rainy con- ditions had to be cancelled. During the game it was an- nounced that members of Delta Zeta sorority won first place in the banner contest, with Phi Delta Theta finishing second and the team of Alpha Chi Omega and Pi Kappa Alpha winning third. During halftime activities, the them. Dailey i; the firJt married Homecoming Queen in the Jthoolhx hthorjy. 12 Homecoming Game Big Green Marching Machine per- formed a medley of songs to prepare the crowd for the crowning of the 1986 Homecoming queen. Winning this honor was Sheila Mullarky Dailey, Huntington senior. Dailey was crowned by 1985 Queen Lorie Wyant and was presented with a silver bowl by President Nitzschke. The queerfs court included Helen Matheny, Mineral Wells senior; Angela DeCoy, Point Pleasant junior; Dee Hicks, Poca sophomore; and Amy Hissam, Patkersburg freshman. Guests adding their appearances to halftime activities included Gov. Arch A. Moore and actor Christopher Atkins. Homecoming Week ended with a sellout concert at the Huntington Civic Center 'by hard rock band Cinderella and main attraction David Lee Roth. Roth performed such chart-busting hits as Califor- nia Girls and Yankee Rose.
