University research is a walking dream Which enables faculty and students to go beyond the classroom Into work which prepares them for the futureg Original experimentation cannot be found in books, For there is no substitute for a searching mind, These long and tedious hours, Spent with the test tube, rat-maize, and guinea pig, 1 But sometimes in the future, There is always honor. Lloyd Kiff, examines a specimen from a col- lection of birds which he and three other Marshall students made on an expedition to Guatemala in 1963. Kiff was co-leader of the group which gathered data on taxonomy, dis- tribution, and ecological preferences of Cen- tral American Birds. Upon complete analysis of their data the group will publish the results of their study in a scientific journal, i i Daniel Christian is doing research to determine the rearrangement products of branched dialkyl acetylenes in the presence of sodium amide. This work is under the direction of Dr. John H. Wotiz.
