Uderitz When a quiet place was needed in which students could study, the library, under the guidance of Miss Grinnell and her capable assistants, was the place to which students often turned. Whether the student was interested in doing re- search work or in reading for personal enjoyment, he found the shelves filled with the best books in every field. MATHEMATICS Higher mathematics such as solid geometry, advanced algebra, and trigonometry, along with general elementary math, intermediate algebra, and plane geometry were oHered to students interested in this field of study. This training was given as an invaluable aide in any occupation, and under the expert guidance of our math teachers. the students were versed in the fundamentals. Performances HISTORY This year the social studies department was primarily concerned with teaching good citizenship which included social understanding and effective participation in a democratic society. It was realized by the corps of students that democracy as a way of life cannot be passed on from generation to generation simply by inheritance, without losing some of its vitality, The faculty tried in this branch to achieve its goal, by drawing upon the resources of history, government, geography, economics. and sociology. Nurse Frances Heaney Lunchroom Staj M. Bemish, L. Foster, M. Kolesnick, I. Burgdorf, D. Stahley, C. Fortune, M. Burdick. Every circus has its 'roust-a-bouts and medical staff, and our super menagerie is no exception. Our custodians, whose job it was to prepare our school for social events, to keep the building and grounds in good condition, and to maintain a warm and comfortable building, served us well during the past year. The lunchroom staff prepared excellent meals to whet the appetites of Marshall's performers. They also pre- pared tempting delicacies for many of Marshall's social events.
