ls., SCIENCE Future chemists, biologists and physicists gathered daily in the labs and class- rooms of the science department eagerly seeking new roads of scientific travel. Problems which baffled the alchemists were mastered in chemistry classesg Einstein's equation of relativity helped in physics classesg and actual, preserved specimens gave biology students a clearer understanding of this science. Continuous BUSINESS In the field of business training, many students took the opportunity to learn shorthand, typing, bookkeeping, office practice, and business law. A co-operative plan gave seniors the chance to apply their knowledge through training on the job, and commercial students also served as secretaries and messengers for faculty mem- bers to gain further secretarial experience. 14

MATHEMATICS Higher mathematics such as solid geometry, advanced algebra, and trigonometry, along with general elementary math, intermediate algebra, and plane geometry were oHered to students interested in this field of study. This training was given as an invaluable aide in any occupation, and under the expert guidance of our math teachers. the students were versed in the fundamentals. Performances HISTORY This year the social studies department was primarily concerned with teaching good citizenship which included social understanding and effective participation in a democratic society. It was realized by the corps of students that democracy as a way of life cannot be passed on from generation to generation simply by inheritance, without losing some of its vitality, The faculty tried in this branch to achieve its goal, by drawing upon the resources of history, government, geography, economics. and sociology.
