ART Thus Grew the Tale ART ' LANGUAGE ' HISTURY Some students preferred the brush to the pen for self-expression. The Art department provided opportunities for the pupils to learn form, color, and composition to guide their inspiration. History was being made so rapidly in all parts of the world during this past year that the Social Studies department devoted con- siderable time to the current scene. Current events together with the history of the past prepared students to choose satisfactorily between alternative courses of future action. French, Latin, and Spanish were included in the curriculum this year, offering many opportunities for students to study a foreign language. The newly devised system of teach- ing Spanish through the use of records was introduced and students were able to hear the text of their newly acquired books spoken verbatim by a Spaniard.
