Through +he Eyes of MarshalI HO AM I? I am John Marshall High School. To Some I am iusl a building on Ridgeway Avenue, fo olhers a rondezvous of memories, and s+ilI +o olhers a fuiure dream. Yes, I have really advanced since fhe lime I was called fhe Kodak School, in fhal' old faclory building. I am now 'I'he newesl' high school in Rochesler, and have 'facililies unknown fo ofher schools. I guess I am iusi' lucky. Lucky no+ only in having such 'rhings as +he recenfly inslalled memorial radio sfudio, +he Hammond organ, 'rhe elecfric score board and fhe many o+her modern improvemenfs, buf lucky fo have such an able group of feachers and advisers +o acl' as my board of direclors. Each year in ihe spring I begin lo feel gloomy when I fhink of lhe seniors who soon will be eniering my doors for fhe Iasf.+ime. This gloom, however, doesn'+ Iasf very long: for in ihe fall I see fhe numerous eighih graders who are enfer- ing my doors for +he firsl' lime. I enjoy walching lhese sludenfs during +he lime 'I-hey spend wilh me. The firsl year +hey Iind me someihing new and difierenl' and remain on fhe sidelines as IiHIe eighlh graders . The nexf year I find fhese same sfudenfs quife different They are no longer sub-frosh, and spend mosl of 'rheir 'Freshman year ordering fhe new slu- denls around. In The fenfh and elevenfh grades +hey become acfive and really make me proud. Then comes lheir senior year. If is during +he senior year Ihaf fhey become fhe leaders and really have a hand in mak- ing me whai' I am fo be. Affer gradua+ion wha'I' comes? Many of my sfudenfs go lo higher sources of educalion, ofhers io work. My only desire is lhaf fhey miss and remember me as I do fhem. 2
