The Glass Of Fashion And The Mould Of Form Regular routines at :Marshall were spiced by Such fascinating creative courses as the practical artS. shop, and music. Whether it was at stirring candy, singing an anthem, reading a blueprint, or design- ing a poster, some student was enthusiastically adding to his practical knowledge and cultural appre- ciation every hour of the school. The choirs, band, and orchestra were as usual, popular, and populous, and brought many mo- ments of pleasure to the entire school. Commercial art, sewing, and cooking classes continued to ap- peal to many others, and the increased student interest in photography, shop and art craft reflected the world-wide trend to manual sciences. How Use Doth Breed A Habit In A Man The steady clicking of the typevvriters on the third Hoor turned out sheets of exercises, tabulations. and letters, while eighth grade exploratory classes were busy putting x's and o's on their papers to make many clever designs. General business, retail distribution, business law, economic geography, book- keeping, shorthand, and office practice managed to keep the students busy while typewriters, dicta- phones, posting and calculating machines kept rhythm. lllany of the senior girls took part in a cooper- ative course and left school after fifth period to work in oflices as part of their office practice classes. Latin, French, and Spanish composed our languages. German was again left out because there was no available teacher. French classes burst into song while packing food and clothing for France. A Spanish Honor Society was formed of students having a mark of B or above. lkleetings were held in Spanish and a Christmas party was held which emphasized many Spanish customs. Latin trudged along as usual, but with the same helpfulness it has always given to students.
