Nordon Louis Flumere Paul Anghinetti David Stone James Honen, Jr. Richard Joubert William Naumes In 1957, the Marlboro High School football team roared through the most successful season in the history of the school. They won, not only their fourth consecutive Midland League Championship, but the Eastern Mass. Class C and the Central Mass. Class B titles as well. The starting team was composed mostly of seniors. They were linemen Paul Jolie, George Lombardo, Robert May, James Little, and Paul Sharon; with Robert Sullivan, John Wallace, Paul Drummey, and George Sepka in the backfield. Other seniors who saw considerable action were Stanley Supeck, Philip Ricciuti, Robert Hinkley, William Dalton, Robert Ryan, Dennis Demers, and Miltiades Tzellas. Nick Seymour, who was injured in practice before the opening game, returned late in the season to see defensive action. The season was featured by exciting wins over Class B powers, Framingham and Danvers, and the climatic 59-20 victory over arch-rival Hudson. As a reward for their fine season, the Panthers were given a six day trip to Miami, Florida by the people of Marlboro. They are: George Lombardo, Pete Forbush, Paul Drummey, Bill Miller, Jim Toohey and Jim Little. As usual the Hudson games were the highlights of the 1957-8 season, for it matters little what else happens if Marlboro loses to Hudson. This year in two slam bang, close, action-packed games Marlboro walked away the winner both times. The captains elected before the second game were Paul Drummey, George Lombardo and Pete Forbush. As a result of our season, we participated in two invitation tournaments—Bay State, and Assumption College. 38 BALL GIRLS’ BASKETBALL 1957-1958 The 1958-1959 girls ' basketball team will be losing four senior girls. They are Barbara Werner, Marian Carr, Alice Nourse, and Beth Shannon. The team had a marvelous year, since the Marlboro High School girls won the Midland League Title. The outstanding forward of the year was Barbara Werner, averaging 13 points per game. Also outstanding were the team ' s guards: Marian Carr, Alice Nourse, and Beth Shannon. Not only was the trip to be a memor¬ able one for those present, but also for the strange Inhabitants of that even more strange sat¬ ellite. It all started when that mad scientist, RAY DuVARNEY and his able assistants, RONALD MGRDICHIAN, BILL DONNALLY, JACK MATTEUS, DICK DIBUONO, and PHIL RIC- CIUTI, decided to get there first. They did! and their constant Beep from the Moon In¬ sisted that the class join them for the 25th anniversary celebration. Ever forward looking, we boarded our rocket, and may proudly report that there wasn ' t a chicken among us. The trip didn ' t take long. In the old days you couldn ' t have gotten to New York that fast. Normally, that is 1 However, if BOB COFFIN, EDDIE BOUVIER, BILL MOINEAU, ROGER CROSSMAN, or DENNIS DEMERS had been driving, you ' d have done it in less time than the trip to the Moon. We were fortunate to have our scientific hosts waiting to greet us. They knew our every taste! They had provided a super-sonic, moon-man garage (all fiber-glass, of course) for RALPH O ' COIN and JOHN COLLINS. For the ski champions BARBARA WERNER, LINDA LaPORTE, GINNY GARCIA, and the great NICK SEYMOUR, they provided ski runs and jumps, spectacular in height. The business opportunities in this glowy place were truly Terfab. The business day was 60 minutes long, very long in Moon-time. ILSE NAUJOKS, a Sull en secretary, bossed everyone, including the bosses, PETE FORBUSH and PAUL JOLIE. As for secretaries, MARJORIE ASELTINE, JANICE BISHOP, GRACE CAPPELLO, IRENE DUESEL, SHIRLEY EMOND, YVONNE GAUTHIER, and DORIS MARSHALL, they immediately made themselves indispensible. The Moon-girls were a-gog at their ultraviolet speed. Probably the scientists were happiest to see the restaurant crowd. Cooking on planets dif¬ fers, say what you will. GEORGIANNA BADAVAS knew just what to do, and selected the perfect place. She called the restaurant Moonglo. Her waitresses, SHIRLEY CLARK, BEV¬ ERLY HANSON and ANN NUGNES, couldn ' t be improved upon. To supply the delicacies to Georgie, ANTHONY GULBANKIAN started chipping away at the craggy surface with his own Inimitable green Thumb. BOB MAY used his big muscles to help. During the dinner hour DICK THIVIERGE entertained with his witty monologues. The Greenwich Village painting crowd insisted on having their own Left Bank before we knew it. There were TERRY KENNEY, GAIL TAYLOR, ANNE MIELE, and BOBBY HINCK¬ LEY with their easels on the barren, painting furiously. It ' s funny about planets, stars, sputniks, or anywhere. Everybody still loves a party. The Elsa Maxwells of our class: JUDY TAYLOR, LINDA LaPORTE, and ALICE NOURSE launched a beauty, with our own Hedda Hopper, CAROLE VLASS, in attendance. For laughs, the girls invited JANE FITZGERALD and her argumentative friend PAUL DUPLESSIS to wow the group. The Spanish dancers, HELEN SIMONIAN and JACK WALLACE performed with the speed of summer lightning. RENA McCARTHY and DONALD CARTER had a jam session that outdid anything of Benny Goodman ' s. Everyone enjoyed the sweet tenor voice of BOB SULLIVAN and his good old Irish melodies. Not only was the entertainment at the party of rare fashion, but the guests also caused a furor. ODETTE PLANTE and SHIRLEY MERCER had come to the Moon especially to show the Moon-girls the latest hair styles. To keep the styles in condition, ELAINE DesROCHERS and 44 PAULINE SMITH from Charles of the Rltz, were there with scissors In hand. To give the ladles an Idea of the latest and most stupendous fashions, two representatives from the House of Mauro (ROSE AND PAT, that Is I) has appeared with their most avidly enthusiastic admirers, FRED GROS¬ SO and TONI GIORGI. Even with all those reminders about Home Sweet Home the guests were still calling for some excitement. The only thing that could be done was to call In JANE SHURE and her Deathdefylng Three-Ring Circus. As the circus was a stupendous affair, there was nothing to do but to set up the tent on the vast plain of that lunar body. As the band began to play the entrance march, Alma Mater, 11 the throng lowered Its voice, and the show began. Into the first ring pranced SWANK and SHARON (David and Paul, natur¬ ally) with their splendiferous team of St. Bernards and Alaskan Huskies. Behind them came the exclusive SUPECK Flying Horses. The exclusive trainer of MR. SUPECK ' S horses was none other than MARIAN CARR. HELEN IMARTINO and her fellowacrobats walked tight ropes, while VINCENT KEANE acted as ring master. In the center ring were the trapeze acts. The leading act was the Deathdefylng, Ultrastupen- dous, DALTON and DOLAN, a great team for many years. Following them on the high wire were BAKER and SAVAGE who would much rather ride In a Ford. In the third ring, the featured act from GUEST House, an enticing Imitation of the great Elvis Presley, made all the young ladles of the group swoon with enjoyment. Every circus has a side show, and Miss Shure ' s was no exception. In the far comer of the side show tent, two very tall men stood looking eagerly at all the pretty girls walking by. These two men were none other than BILL MILLER and BOB LAMBERT. In another comer, those famous comics MARY COMERFORD, JAMES BRADY and PETE FORREST are causing much hilarity, a- long with GEORGE SEPKA. Just at the entrance to the tent a carefully barricaded booth enclosed WARREN BAILEY and his Rifle team. In order to make the circus enticing for the Moon-people, at the front gate, BOB BOISVERT, the barker, entoned the glories of the Big Show to the mob. Evidently however, the barker ' s compliments Influenced the people to such a degree that they ate too many of the delicacies provided. Because sick people need medical assistance. Dr. JAMES TOOHEY, his Intern ROLAND TOOHEY, and his nurses BETH SHANNON and GINNY CAS- ACELI, came quickly in order to relieve their gorged stomaches. After the doctor and nurses had done their work, some of the various groups including the All Star Football Champions JAMES LITTLE, GEORGE LOMBARDO and PAUL DRUMMEY decided to start a moon-football team. GAIL PHILLIPO and BOBBY COLLINS went on a cruise in Crater Lake, with a Stow away; FRANNY RICCUITI cooked a pizza for gum-loving BOB IGOR RYAN; BOB COUGHLIN stopped by the Wayside to repair his car; DAVID DeCOFF started his own M.O.O.N. radio station; MARY ELLIS opened a uniform factory; PAT HORRIGAN started her own A and P with the bank roll protected by JAMES SPEAR and MARIE GIANCOLA. MILT TZELLAS set up his own foreign service for good-moon relations. BERNIE JENSEN and EDGAR MAURICE set up their own billiard parlor while DALE TRAVERS, ROBERT SIMONEAU and RICHARD MARSHALL continued to do things in an orderly way. Since the celebration was almost finished, the group made plans to return to earth. They hated to leave the gay moon, but decided that it was a better place for a vacation than for permanent residence and that they were destined Ever to Excel on earth. 45 CLASS WILL MARJORIE ASELTINE GEORG!E BADAVAS WARREN BAILEY LINDA BAKER JANICE BISHOP BOB BOISVERT EDDIE BOUVIER JAMES BRADY GRACE CAPPELLO MARIAN CARR DONALD CARTER VIRGINIA CASACELI SHIRLEY CLARK BOB COFFIN JOHN COLLINS ROBERT COLLINS RAYMOND COMBS MARY COMERFORD BOB COUGHLIN ROGER CROSSMAN BILL DALTON DAVID DeCOFF DENNIS DEMERS ELAINE DesROCHERS DICK DIBUONO BETSY DOLAN WILLIAM DONNALLY PAUL DRUMMEY IRENE DUESEL PAUL DUPLESSIS RAY DuVARNEY MARY ELLIS SHIRLEY EMOND PETE FORBUSH PETE FORREST GINNY GARCIA YVONNE GAUTHIER MARIE GIANCOLA TONY GIORGI FRED GROSSO TONY GULBANKIAN RONALD GUEST BEVERLY HANSON BOB HINCKLEY PAT HORRIGAN HELEN IMARTINO BERNIE JENSEN PAUL JOLIE VINCENT KEANE Leaves her full skirts to Evelyn Saarlsto.
