Safety Patrol Garner Morrisett, Manuel Clouse, David Bingham, Bill Lovell, Johnny Price, and Bill Keadle. The students and faculty of the Marked Tree High School were saddened on the opening day of school at the death of Mr. I. Will Pierce. Mr. Pierce was a graduate of the University of Miss- Ouri and had earned his Masters Degree at the University of Chicago. For the state of Missouri, Mr. Pierce had served as High School Supervisor, and as Superintendent of Schools at South Side, Cape Girardeau, Perryville, Malden, West Plains, Washington, Springfield Teachers' College, and Cape Girardeau Teachers' college. He was also Superintendent of Schools at Paragould, Arkansas. While working for the government he had served as a civilian adult education instructor in the states and in Korea. At Marked Tree High School, Mr. Pierce had served as a classroom teacher, a teacher of adult Education and Supervisor of the School Lunch Program. The Marked Tree School will not seem the same without Mr. Pierce, and we feel that we are better because of our associations with him. Page Z2

Pop Hodge Toastmasters, newspapers, and those of his wide acquaintance have heaped upon Pop I-lodge many praises for his accomplishments in music, his chosen field and first love. He beamed with pride as he directed from the piano his beautiful girls as they sang to appreciative audiences all over this land. It has been said by many that he brought to our school and community good, wholesome advertisement that money could not buy. Those of us who knew him well feel that we, our school, and our community are better because he came our way. There will never be another Pop. May his soul rest in peace.
