The Siiuadron later enpajred in Convoy coveraKe and Anti-Sui)marine Warfare duties in the Atlantic. He .served as Executive Odicer of an ASW Patrol Plane S(iua(lron. ' P jMS-7. operating PBM Mariner aircraft, based in Hawaii diirinp 1946 and 1917. Later he .served as ASW Oflicer on the StafT of Commander Fleet Air Winp TWO based in Hawaii. Captain JONP-S completed a year of advanced instruction in Aero- nautical Enpineerinp. M.I.T., and later attended the U.S. Naval School, Cioneral Line in Newport, R.I., for advanced professional instruction. He aLso served on the Joint Staff of Commander Iceland Defense Force ba.sed in Keflavik, Iceland. He served as Chief Staff and Operations Officer for Commander Destroyer Squadron THIRTEEN, based aboard the USS BLUE (DD 744) liurinfr the latter part of the Korean War. In 1954, Captain JONES was Executive Officer of the USS BRUSH (DD 74.5) based in the Pacific Fleet before poing to shore duty in the Otiice of Naval Research in Washington, D.C. He was Commanding Officer of the USS ALFRED A. CUNNINGHAM (DD 7.52) from Novem- ber 1957 through October 1959. From 1959 through 1961 Captain JONES served as Military Secretary to the Director for Logistics (-11), organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Prior to reporting to MARKAB, Captain JONES was Prog ram .Manager, Torpedo Weapons Systems, Bureau of Naval Weapons. Captain JONES assumed command of the USS MARKAB (AR 2. .) on 18 March 1964.
