Arzealer Madison, and Elaine Junkin, Sponsor. Forward We, the 1980 Annual Staff have tried to capture, in words and pictures, the life here at M.C.H.S. We hope, as you thumb through these pages of the Marionette you will recall the fond memories of the year. We would like to thank each and every one who contribute to the publication of this year's annual. Special thanks go to Taylor Publishing Company and Belmont Studio, for a job well done. Jimmy Elmore Staff Marion County High School Accredited - by the STATE OF ALABAMA and SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES We, the l980 annual staff, take great pride in presenting the dedication this year. The person to whom we dedicate this edition of the Marionette is very special to all of the students here at Mar- ion County High School, but she is most loved by those who know her best, We can say that she is not only a teacher but also a friend. We all know that we can count on her when the going is rough. For the friendship and love that you have shown us. we dedicate this edition of the Marionette to you, MRS. FAYE DENNIS I-'ve-int M d l...... CONTENTS CONTENTS K -Q-.ur .I unkm and Burleson Our Principal - Mr. james H. Iunkin We are happy for the elementary school whose new facili- ties are almost completed. We know what a problem it is to be working on a scattered campus and have unfamiliar and tem porary settings. MCHS will be ready for a five year evaluatior follow-up by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools ir the school year of 1980-81. We are also due for a self-study by the State Department of Education for continuing statn accreditation. Even though we plan to continue with a sevei C71 period day next year, we are thinking strongly of requirini all students to take six Q63 subjects. This would expose them tc more opportunities for learning. We realize that most students are capable of doing mucl better than they are doing. Our goal is to help them rise abovi complacency and to higher achievement. According to result from the standardized tests mandated from the State Depart ment of Education last spring our students scored above th state and national averages. Superintendent - Mr. A. R.
