Its other activities include parties, movie nights, miniature golf, bowling, candy sales, and slide presentations, This year Marina had three foreign exchange students under the AFS program. Runes fs 1' 25 c if ji 'R Nmx K fi Jay Lechtman, Editor of Literature, discusses a student entry. Have you ever wondered what exactly the Runes club devotes its countless hours to? Well this year, Marina's Runes club was responsible for the outstanding publi- cation of the annual Runes magazine. This is a publication written by students, orga- nized by students, and published by stu- dents, as well. lt is a creative arts magazine filled with short stories, poems, artwork, pictures, and any other creative material a student wished to submit. Meeting sometimes twice a week during lunch, the Runes club would spend time sorting through and reading the various student entries. Jay Letchtman, Editor of Literature, and Chris Lake, Editor of Artwork, would lead the pack through the many excellent entries. Finally, the diffi- cult decision of which articles and artwork to publish was made. Traditionally, the Runes magazine is made available to the student body on the day of the Golden Shields presentation, and the tradition was continued again this year. Runes was an excellent opportunity for students to be published who like to draw, write, or take pictures. All members, including advisor Mr. Pap, actively participated in this maga- zines success.
