- - Boys' And Girls' State Reps The American Legion's 1984 State Session, of over 550 qualified girls allowed me to experience real team work for the very first time. It was a whirlwind week spent at Sacramento State Llni- versity, learning, creating, and grasping the foun- dations of our democratic system. Distinguished speakers such as Senator William Campbell and Governor George Deukmejian were a few of the enriching highlights. I sincerely hope that the Seal Beach Leisure World Post of the American Legion will continue to provide this outstanding opportunity for the youth of California, which in turn encourages us to reach for the stars. I must again thank the Auxiliary Post for allowing Girls State to be one of my most treasured memories. Deborah S. Hirsch Late last year I was chosen by the American Legion Post 327 of Seal Beach Leisure World to be Marina's delegate at Boys State. At the Boy's State Session I gained a great understanding for the American Political System. Approximately 900 boys took part in this week-long political science course, and we all learned by re-enacting the California State Government. I would sin- cerely like to thank everyone who made Boys State possible, it was an experience I'II never forget. Christopher K. Lake 58 Boy s And G1rl's State Reps.

This commit- tee consisted of over twenty students who were selected according to their perfor- mance and dedication that they had dem- onstrated on other projects. Under the ex- cellent supervision of Dr. Womer, overall chairman Elizabeth Buhman, and deputy commissioner Jock' Petersen, the Grad. Committee met weekly along with the Sen- ior Class Council to plan our graduation ceremony. The Graduation Committee of 85 spent many long hours working to in- sure that our graduation would be a memo- rable experience.
