Courses are offered in electron- ics, drafting, wood shop, hot metals, ma- chine tooling, and auto maintenance. Stu' dents learn to make tools from scratch and then use them to craft other materials. Support from the Coastline Regional Occu- pation Program QCROPJ has allowed contin- ued operation of costly machinery and con- tinued training of our students in courses which ready them for a specialized job market. The Business Education Department is special because it requires students to ap- ply the knowledge and skills they have learned in other disciplines to a field which can train them for the real world of work and daily living. Economics and account- ing polish math skillsg typing and dictation spruce up English grammar and sentence structure. According to department chair- man Marion Harris, every aspect of the department is student-oriented for the fu- ture. Typing rooms are equipped with electic typewriters and students get ample practice writing business letters and typing important forms. ln a computer-literate society, the abili- ty to type is becoming more and more vital. A variety of courses are offered by the Home Economics Department to meet the needs of students who wish to improve either themselves or their quality of life. Singles living and economics courses pro- vide necessary information to survive in the world that becomes so real after gradu- ation. Such courses as ,foods and clothing give practical experience which can make that world more pleasant place. ln the spe- cific areas of job preparation, students in fashion merchandising learn the workings of stores, while students in modeling courses learn how to present themselves as winners in the tough competitive job market.
