EXSliding To victory Girls' Softball This year's Varsity Softball team had high hopes for a winning season. This was mainly due to the success of last year's softball team. The Viking girls, last year, had a great season. The year finally ended for them when they lost a heartbreaking game in the twelfth inning to Kennedy High School in the finals of C.l.F. competition. The final score was O-1 and Marina finished second in C.l.F. This year's team included returning players Lori Crouse, Christy Larsen, An- drea Willer, and Tracy Ferguson. They, along with the other girls, hoped to do just as well. The talent possessed by this team was tremendous. Long hours of practice combined with this talent made the Vi- kings a tough team to beat. X Swimsg To Win Boys Swimming The 1985 edition of the AquaVikes did very well again this season. The team placed nine relays in the pretigious ClF Relay Finals at Belmont Plaza in early March finishing sixth overall in spite of the absence of two key swimmers. Leading the team as they have for the past three years were Tom Warde, Steve Spanovich, and tri-captains Brian Brotherton, Jeff Essig, and Chuck Day. As seniors, this group forms the nucleus of the odds-on favorite to win their second consecutive Sunset League championship. Also lending might- ily to the cause will be seniors Pat Man- nion, Dan Wilson, Larry Szpila, juniors stars Duane Wellhoefer and Paul Allen, Richard Schuppek, Scott Larsen, David Budman, sophomores Andy McFetridge, Scott Jacobsen, and Wade Womack along with key freshman Chris Ray. The Aqua- Vike tradition continues to supply excel- lence in aquatics at Marina. Llp for a breath.
