EXSliding To victory Girls' Softball This year's Varsity Softball team had high hopes for a winning season. This was mainly due to the success of last year's softball team. The Viking girls, last year, had a great season. The year finally ended for them when they lost a heartbreaking game in the twelfth inning to Kennedy High School in the finals of C.l.F. competition. The final score was O-1 and Marina finished second in C.l.F. This year's team included returning players Lori Crouse, Christy Larsen, An- drea Willer, and Tracy Ferguson. They, along with the other girls, hoped to do just as well. The talent possessed by this team was tremendous. Long hours of practice combined with this talent made the Vi- kings a tough team to beat. This year's Frosh-Soph baseball team was coached by Bob Harmon and Clay Mills. This very young team did very well this year. With a lot of hard work and effort, this team was very successful throughout the whole season. They felt their greatest challenger to be Fountain Valley or Edison. These excellent players were ready to face any challengers, and never gave up hope. These fine young players will be of great benefit in years to come. This year, there was another Frosh-Soph team. This was the district team, which was coached by John Drew. They played teams who were outside of the Sunset League. A great advantage to having this team, is that it gives more people a chance to participate, and actually play. This team did very well, and had many good players. As will the Sunset Frosh-Soph team, this team will have many players who will be a great asset to Vikes! future teams. Good job . .... i . ..:.
