X--N Strives For Success Girls Track As girls' track got under way this year, the outlook for a winning season to follow looked promising. This year's team was comprised of some sixty girls, each pos- sessing great potential and specializing in different areas such as sprinting, hurdling, throwing, jumping, and long distance run- ning. These dedicated athletes spent many long hours in preparation for the season's meets against such consistently difficult competitors as Fountain Valley, Hunting- ton Beach, and Edison. The girls, under the guidance and coaching expertise of Coach Dick Degen, Coach Jeff Heise, and Coach Matt Blaty, worked hard and continued to improve their skills throughout the gruel- ing season. Outstanding performances were put in by: hurdlers and jumpers Tracy Allen and Kristen Laaskog distance runners Yolanda Alvarez and Kim Simonseng and discus throwers and shotputters Amy Gould and Beth Westelin. 2 'T I .
