.S The Junior Varsity Basketball team en- joyed one of its finest seasons ever. Under the leadership of Coach Frank Ruotolo, the team won the Sunset League Champion- ship with a phenomenal record of 8-2. The top six players were Preston Hays- lette, Mike Padilla, Matt Hattabaugh, Mike Meyers, Bryan Sterzer, and Mike Martin. The Junior Varsity team has won its first basketball championship since 1979. Con- gratulations to a fine team effort! The Sophomore team also enjoyed a fine season. Finishing 12-11 overall, it placed fourth in the Sunset League. The team played a great game in its victory in the Canyon Tournament, in which George Gar- rett was selected the Most Valuable Player. The team's two most outstanding play- ers were George Garrett and Scott Hanson. George Garrett set a sophomore record for the best freethrow percentage in a season at 77.1'Z,. X-nX Fast Break Freshman Basketball The Freshman Sunset League Basket- ball team did not show its true potential by its record, finishing 4-6 in league play. They still showed great promise for next year's sophomore basketball team. Led by great players such as John Warde, Sam Chirco, and Dan Floyd, the team proved to be a formidable force for its opponents. The Freshman District team, on the oth- er hand, finished with a 13-3 record, and had a 9-l league record. They were the League champions. Top players were Bri- an Richardson, Ryan Flores, and Denny McCollum.
