L Talented Young Team I Girls' Soccer Marina's girls soccer team put forth a great effort this year. The girls, under the charge of Coach Vicki West, had high hopes after a promising pre-season includ- ing victories over some tough competitors. The Viking girls continually worked at improving their skills during rigorous prac- tices in preparation for the regular season. The Varsity team, with such talented play- ers as forward Connie Knapp, goal keeper Tracy Ferguson, and forward Julie Bridg- man, played extremely well. Unfortunate- ly, the talent displayed by the Vikings was not reflected in the scores. Both the Varsi- ty team and the Junior Varsity team, head- ed by Coach Nellie Spring, finished the year with a record of 1-8-1. Each of the girls on both Varsity and J.V. played to the best of their abilities. A Great Boys Gymnastics The Varsity, Gymnastics team started their season with flying colors. Like their first competition, they hope to be victori- ous throughout the rest of their season. Under the coaching of Farouck Mo- hammed, the team showed great potential in their events. With a lot of practice and time, the team members can exceed in such events as the rings, parallel bars, floor exercises and the vaulting horse. The members in the team who show the most outstanding effort are: John Trombley, Bill Stark, and David Shepard. Supporting the outstanding members by doing well in their events are Bill Bach, Linh Vu, Dean Fran- co, and Jei Lee. Next year, the team hopes to have a great season with seniors making up most of the team, and more younger members. The Junior Varsity team also hopes to have a winning season and to make the gymnastics team the best it can be.
