Aqua Vikes Varsity Water Polo The Varsity Water Polo team put togeth- er a number of firsts this year, For the first time ever, Marina laid claim to the Sunset League championship as they defeated their closest rival, Fountain Valley, by a score of 10 to 6. Their final record was a brilliant 22-4, Included was a CIF playoff victory over Tustin. They also put up a superb contest against Corona del Mar, but lost in the last 43 seconds by a score of 7-6. Leading the team were All-Americans Tom Warde and Steve Spanovich. Warde was the 4-A division leading scorer and Player of the Year in the Sunset League. Spanovich led the defense and was also named Second Team All-CIF. Scott Larsen, the third leading scorer and only a junior, was named Third Team All-CIF.
