The Vikes started off the sea- son by conquering Huntington in their own territory. They lost to the top ranked Foun- tain Valley, but the determined Vikes just kept pushing forward, and went on to beat both Ocean View and Westminster. They went on to play Edison, they gave it their all, but still were defeated. However, CIF was still there! Outstanding players wereg Shawn Mas- sey, Steve Blokdyk, Fred Jordan, Chip Rish, Adam Antoyan, Dave Fletcher, Matt Mc Dowell, Brent Hyska, John Porter, and Pat Penner. The team showed great drive, stamina, and power. With the great crowds, the team was able to maintain their confidence even with losing. Shawn Massey and Fred .Jordan were both considered to be two of the best play- ers around. Defensively, however, Adam Antoyan, Dave Fletcher, Matt Mc Dowell, Brent Hyska, and John Porter were among some of the best. By defeating most of their Sunset Shawn Massey runs from his opponent. Massey runs away with the ball to score another touchdown. l32 Varsity Football League opponents, the Vikes were on their way to CIF. By first playing Loyola, the team was very prepared for what lay ahead. They defeated Loyola and went on to play Servite for the second time. The Vikes victory over them in pre-season was the only defeat Servite had for their whole season. They did it once again, becoming the only team to beat Servite not only once, but twice. From this victory, the Vikes went on to play Fontana. This resulted in defeat. Over- all, they had a great year. Dave Fletcher moves in to recover the ball. Piccione and Yoshiyama rush to tackle.
